Breaking out in The Escapists 2, some thoughts

The game is indeed a bit grindy. But some of it appears to be knowledge gathering grind rather than actual grinding for resources. This feels a bit overwhelming when you start. I'm not quite there myself, but it looks like things get much more direct when you understand all of the mechanics better.

One of Valve's choices of games to highlight for Steam Machines is more than a little silly

It's said that for at least two years. A steam discussion thread I replied to in 2015 about this exact claim came back life today as well.

The beautiful space combat game 'EVERSPACE' finally lands on Linux in an unofficial form

If later spawns count, then yes.

At some point I was trying to work out what the deal was with a broken space station segment with shields and door. I took a bit too long and suddenly loads of enemies jumped in, including several battle ships. I barely managed to jump out by flying in between the two legs of a battleship and use the thing as cover. Spawned into the next are surrounded by at least 20 enemies. Including one of those things that sucks your shield away. I died before the new jump direction was calculated. Probably about 15 seconds.

Only the one? :P
I've had a few more since then. For the last one I got into the second sector with a big Okkar ship with a jump jammer surrounded by turrets and about 10 fighters around it. It redefined swift.

It seems pretty FPS friendly indeed. Running about 40 fps on 3440x1440 on epic settings.

Only bug I've found in my short play is the (previously mentioned) mouse offset bug in windowed mode (which was default). The major shortcoming of the game is that you can't actually use your joystick to play it, but this appears to be the case on windows as well.

The co-op, action RPG 'Dauntless' may see Linux support in future

I've seen a small bit of gameplay and it looks very much like the Monster Hunter games. Monster Hunter always seemed kind of odd to me because it feels like you're only doing boss battles which can take all the way up to an hour to do.

It's UE4, so it should be doable. It may take a while if it has problems like other UE4 games.

The Frostbite engine apparently has partial Linux support but that doesn’t mean we’ll get ports anytime soon

Quoting: AzPJohan (and other developers at Dice) has been active members in the development of Vulkan (based on his experionce on running the Frostbite Engine an Mantle). I would assume that Frostbite can actually run on Vulkan, though perhaps not fully optimized, etc.
That actually sounds quite reasonable. This is a direction that engines need to take for the future. That would have been a big chunk of the porting work done without specifically targetting Linux. The remainder could be done as an experiment that never needs to see the light of day.

Quoting: Crazy PenguinSure it's true! I can expand my team by 1-2 people adding & fixing multiplayer. No impact at all for your single player experience! ;)
Wow. You've never actually worked in a real world company, have you?

I wondering what "not fully" means. Everything but the DirectX stuff would be a lot less impressive than everything but Denuvo support.

I'd personally go for F1 2017. :P

Since the mac icon has gone, it has to be that. I still can't work out the clue the though.
