I did investigate Patreon, but until they change the way they do payments it is a no-go for me. I'd like to support GoL, not the banks.

It's a Unity3D game, so it should port over relatively easy. I was watching a stream of this game last night. It looks pretty damn hard.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyPresumably ports in general as opposed to games purpose-built for cross-platform. It's just that Feral and Aspyr dominate higher end game ports so thoroughly . . .
It's probably not that bad. I suspect it has more to do with the amount of data that needs to be synchronised. For an FPS that's fairly little. But for Feral's strategy games that can add up. Still, if the original developers had to deal with multiple platforms (even consoles) they would probably have made different choices.

The slides for the Vulkan presentations from Feral Interactive, Croteam and more are now up

Quoting: GuestGrid autosport with vulkan on Android...
Only Android? Please Feral, Desktop Linux too!
I imagine that the mobile version of Grid Autosport is quite different from desktop one.

More on topic. I had a quick scan through the slides. They don't appear to be that useful without the presentation that goes with it. Especially the Croteam slides come across as a bit chaotic.

Really annoying is that it pauses a while before the "saving" icon appears. Making you wonder if it has crashed.

I generally share mirv's opinion on the matter. I don't like these threads, whether they are started by users or developers. I don't think they serve any practical use. Only a small number will users will ever reply to them. So after that, you're still left with the same question: how many people could potentially be interested. Ideally you'd want developers to create a port because it's the right thing to do. It happens (kudos to those that do), but the norm is that the investment must be earner back with profit. So then developers still have to go back to the general statistics, decide if there are reasons why sales may be higher or lower among Linux users, and determine whether this is worth their porting investment. So if the thread is useful at all, it will be to point the finger at how few people responded and that a port is not feasible because of it.

So no, I won't respond to such requests, even if I want the game.

Shadow of Mordor on AMD Ryzen CPU suffers from a performance hit due to non-optimal thread scheduling

Is this really necessary on a 4 core Ryzen? I would have thought they'd use only one CCX on that one. That would actually have been the big advantage.

Quoting: drmothCan't wait. And Windows has only DirectX11 support, no DX12. This is a first! Go Feral!!
That was already the case with Mad Max.

Vulkan and cake, this is a good day!

It's funny that this news came out just after I spent a whole bunch of money on Feral games I probably won't play much. So I'll claim that I made this happen. :D

The Khronos UK Vulkan talk is tomorrow with Feral, Croteam and more & you watch online

Unfortunately, it turns out it's not actually being livestreamed. It's set up as a webex meeting, which requires Java. That ended my intention of watching.
