HITMAN for Linux officially announced, port by Feral Interactive and arriving this month

Quoting: hardpenguinThey already confirmed last year that Deus Ex MD will be their first Vulkan title (that they will add Vulkan support for the game in Spring 2017).
They said *A* Vulkan title. They did not say anything about which game that was going to be. My vote is on a game that released (or will release) on Windows after that point.

Quoting: TobiSGD@jith_feral: Now the most important question for me: Will the port have the same restrictions as the Deus Ex port and need SSSE3 to run?
As I understand it, this restriction came from the original game, not from the port. Since I haven't heard about any such requirement from this game, it should be fine.

They are porting Stasis. They just had a bit of trouble with it. But signs point to it coming in the near future. The new game should also release for Linux.

Ugh, it feels like we will never get any Vulkan games.
I don't think this game has DX12, so it was never going to be Vulkan.

Quoting: erlaanI got the same question if G29 works on linux because I got one in a box and have not tried it on Eurotruck simulator. Maybe should do it. When I got time. THat will maybe be the same time Dirt rally get out :)
The G29 should work fine. The non-experimental driver support is limited, but generally enough for sims. So I expect Dirt Rally to be the same. So far only ETS2 requires support of more hardware features.

I've been waiting for this one. Racing without opponents is more my thing.

With the recent announcement of DiRT 4, so I wonder if they have an option on doing that one as well.

Wheel support should be predictable. All Logitech wheels should work with full force feedback on this one. If it's anything less, Feral should have me fix whatever is wrong in the driver quickly! :D

Quoting: oldrocker99I get the 0 byte W: DoW download bug every time I open Steam, too.
I just realised that I had four "updates" of 0 bytes yesterday. If this is what is meant here, then it's not just Feral games. I'll have to check later to see if keep coming back.

I'm assuming that this game does not spoil Stasis. Can anybody confirm that?

It's interesting that there are at least two games in the "most anticipated for 2017" category for which there is absolutely no indication that they will come this year (or at all).

No huge surprises in the result. Although, while I expected Feral to win the favourite porter, the margin is quite a bit bigger than I expected. I think the most important reason for them to win is not the number of releases, but their community involvement.

Appreciating how far Linux gaming has actually come in the past few years

Quoting: AimelaI'm curious, how was gaming in Linux before 2013? I only became aware that Linux was anything more than a CLI OS(as in, completely lacking any GUI elements) in the second half of 2013 and installed Ubuntu for the first time in October of that year, after Steam had officially started supporting linux.
I started using Linux as my primary desktop OS in 2002. So you were slightly late. :D I didn't do too much gaming back then, but there was more out there than you realise. ID software was mentioned, but by the LOKI had come (and almost gone) and after that Linux Game Publishing did quite a few ports (I have a stack of DVDs from them). Not quite the numbers generated by Humble and Steam, but enough to fill my available gaming time.
