I thought the steam categories were kind of different. And I picked up a plan to vote a certain Valve game as "most in need of a sequel" ;-)

These categories are more conventional. But for some (like best porter) you know up front what the result is going to be.

Feral Interactive are requesting that Canonical get Mesa updates into an official PPA

It appears Feral also upgraded their radar. All the glitches are gone! Kind of boring really.

Starting the announcement with a Joss Whedon quote. That creates expectations!

The Transport Fever developers outline their post-release plans, performance will be worked on

It's interesting that they mention graphics hardware for the performance issues when my personal experience is that the biggest issues cpu related. One example was me moving around completely zoomed in when my fps dropped from 45 to around 22. The second I stopped moving, it jumped back to 45. Since nothing on screen changed significantly when zoomed in so far, it must have been doing something else to cause the slow down. For me it's no big issue, but I can imagine that something like that could make it unplayable on weaker machines.

X-Plane 11 system requirements revealed, needs plenty of RAM
16 Nov 2016 at 10:39 am UTC

X-Plane is very difficult to compare to other games in terms of requirements. For one, it greatly depends on what you put in it. I put 24 GB in my machine just for X-Plane. And while testing some very high density meshes for the Alps, I managed to run out. But if you have the computing power, you can do it. X-Plane is a pretty open platform. Which is good for flexibility, but completely impossible to optimise in the same way that games do it. Higher specs are the result.

Quoting: EhvisWith the Vulkan renderer, performance was almost instantly at DX11 levels. So very good for Linux users. Unfortunately, it's also very unstable for me (hard lock ups). From what I've seen on the beta threads, this instability is specific to the GTX970. Any others here have the same experience?
I had similar lockups with a GTX 780.
And 645M.
I tried the new build and it froze in a couple of minutes. In that couple of minutes the performance was rock solid though.

Quoting: melkemindSo, this is the publictesting branch in Steam? Is it safe to switch to that with current saves on the main branch?
Yes, but you may not be able to switch back with the same savegames.

Quoting: liamdaweThe only one of which you mentioned on Linux is Kotor II (Star Wars), which doesn't really let you be that bad.
In that case, add Saints Row to the list. Enough to satisfy any immediate need for political incorrectness.

Transport Fever released with day-1 Linux support, some thoughts

I came home, started the download, had my dinner, started playing and boom, gone was the evening. I'd say qualifies for a positive experience. Naturally, I do enjoy these Transport Tycoon style games. Much more so than the Cities: Skylines stuff.

I've also not had any annoying performance issues. It's not been 60 fps all the way, but even on the biggest map it was over 30, which is plenty for a game like this.

@liamdawe: The settings for inverting the mouse are there. The wrong way around for me as well, I switched them around after the first tutorial.

In Dutch we have a saying (can't think of an English equivalent) which says something like: people see others as they are themselves. It appears to be much too applicable on the internet. If only people spent as much time informing themselves as they do bitching about others.
