Unity have released a preview of the Unity editor with the Vulkan API

I tried the demos posted by Tak. Everything appears to work great. I did try to change the renderer using the command line switches, but that didn't appear to work because I couldn't notice any difference.

Apart from the fact that +1's are complete useless (if a dev would listen to the number of +1's, then a port would never come), you can be a bit more verbose. After all, you expert a dev to put effort into making a port, the least you can do is express you interest in a proper sentence.

Quoting: liamdaweLike I tell people when this comes up, I don't expect Feral to use Vulkan until later next year. If they were using Vulkan, like with Metal it would have already have been announced.
That argument works can also be reversed. They didn't deny it, so they are planning a Vulkan release.

The most reasonable explanation is probably that they are working on a Vulkan layer, but don't know yet whether it (and the drivers) will be stable enough to use it for this particular release.

Deus Ex performance will be interesting indeed. Unfortunately Feral is tight lipped about the possible use of Vulkan. They did do a news post specifically about metal with "You can't kill progress" in the title. What they didn't mention (and nobody on twitter asked) is whether the port does DX12 -> Metal or DX11 -> Metal. If they did the first, then their knowledge of DX12 should be pretty good and Vulkan would not be too hard to do. Anyway, more patience is needed before we know if progress is not killed for us either.

Maybe we should be happy with the lack of day 1 releases. The experience should be better after a few updates.

Quoting: Mountain ManOne-way doors and an inability to sleep without a bedroll? I dunno, man... that sounds like "fake difficulty" to me.
Doors that only open from the inside are actually kind of normal. I just never thought of it in the game. Also, you can't actually leave it open.

As for fake difficulty, that is true I suppose. But it's a game, it's all fake difficulty. You just have to learn the mechanics.

It mirrors the steam reviews. Even the graphics don't look particularly nice to me. So both a waste of money and time.

So this weekend I was exploring the dam. I stepped outside, but soon after a blizzard started and ran to get back inside. No go, one way door. Look for a relatively sheltered space, made a fire and decided to sleep. Huh, no bedroll? A damn, forgot to pick that up inside. No I have to wait with pass time for the blizzard to go. Six hours later, it was gone, but I was exhausted. Which forced me to drop half my gear in order to at least move slowly. Went down, crossed the ice to go back to the entrance. Around the last corner I stand face to face with a wolf. I tried to run, but in my exhausted state I couldn't do anything to fight him off. Died from blood loss.

I love this game! :D

A back to school sale? The irony is strong in this one.
