Definitely interesting to know whether they would come back and do it for real if the Steam Deck takes off. Even a Vulkan engine in the game would be a big step.

Quoting: FrawoWell, Valve already made a Linux console and CDPR did nothing. They did something. They hired VP to do their TW2 port and they probably intended to let them continue with TW3. But since the Steam Machines went nowhere, so did their efforts.

Fun fact. I didn't know about the existence of Steam until about 2012. I got my first game in 2013 with the release of Steam for Linux, which was Shank 2. A game I still haven't finished.

This storage manager thing looks like it was created with the Steam Deck in mind.

Steam's Global Top Sellers list for Linux gamesIt would actually be interesting to see a list of top games bought by Linux users instead of the global list filtered for games that support Linux. Might reveal some interesting things.

Quoting: WorMzyThe key word here is "easy". It'll be easy for long time Linux users since they know how it works. But for your average Windows user it won't be that easy.Quoting: whizsehttps://www.steamdeck.com/en/hardware [External Link]Quoting: AussieEeveeWhat I am expecting from Valve is an easy way to install these other game stores. Yes, they are competitors but Valve promised me that I could.Where?
You can also install and use PC software, of course. Browse the web, watch streaming video, do your normal productivity stuff, install some other game stores, whatever.
Take-Two filed a lawsuit against the reverse-engineered GTA III and Vice City developers

Quoting: F.UltraClaim 28 is quite damaging to the reverse-engineering team:I'm not sure if that would actually be copyright infringement, but it certainly doesn't sound like clean room to me either. I think they'll have a hard time defending this one despite all the nonsense claims of T2 and I don't think any legal defenders of open source will want to burn themselves on this one.
28. Papenhoff has admitted that the source code developed via the re3 and reVCIf this is true and it appears to be so, then this is in fact copyright infringement and not something that any of us really can defend.
projects is not original, but rather is (and was intended to be) a copy of the original. In fact,
Defendants have bragged that their derivative source code was created by working backwards
from Take-Two’s final “machine” code to re-create the human-readable code in which GTA was
programmed:
“GTA 3 and Vice City were originally written in [programming
language] C++ . . . The compiled executables that are shipped are in
machine code. So the general task is to go from machine code back to
C++. . . . To go back to C++ is by no means a simple 1:1 mapping, but
over the last 10 or so years decompilers have appeared that help with this
process. . . . So what we typically do is work with the output of the
decompiler and massage it back into readable C++.” Id.

Quoting: TriasHmm...? Liam, are you sure with those stats? I don't see Pop!_OS in Top5. Ubuntu 21.04 is №4 and Linux Mint 20.2 is №5.It's kind of weird. Your list is what shows on the global list, but when you filter "Linux Only", you get Liam's list. Definitely something fishy going on there.
