It looks pretty good, but unfortunately it is an mmo, which doesn't make me hopeful for meaning gameplay.

More BattlEye titles for Proton on Linux including DayZ, ARMA 3 now supported

Quoting: F.UltraWow that is a lot of memory mappings. I assume that Windows doesn't limit this or have a higher default, the default on Linux is 65535.
A lot is relative. For Star Citizen the value is upped to 16 million.

Honestly, it feels a lot like the max open files where the default remained extremely low even though it was completely not necessary for current generation computers.

GOG to go through some reorganization after suffering losses

Quoting: Mal"EVERYBODY who made a certain amount of money" doesn't make it large publishers? Without mass investments into commercials it's hard to consistently make "certain amount of money" in any business. Let alone a overcrowded business like VGs. And that is essentially publishers business and role in the industry.

GOG to go through some reorganization after suffering losses

Quoting: STiATI'd like a competitor to Steam.
The problem with that is that any potential competitors should have done that a long loooooong time ago. But Valve was left alone. Any competing stores jumped into a niche and didn't directly challenge Steam. Epic is the first to really try, but with Steam's 15 year head start even their free games won't get them close. I don't think there is a reasonable option left for a proper competitor unless some forced library sharing option between stores becomes a thing.

Valheim gets a new patch, plus teasers for Mistlands and Caves

Quoting: syylkMy forecast for Mistlands:
- spiders, big and bigger
- lightning attacks/resistance
- dark/eerie biome, but dry as opposed to the wet Swamp
Even from what has been in the game so far, you can see that Mistlands will be permanently cold. So another permanent debuff. But at least no double down during nighttime.

Quoting: scaineYeah. On one hand, monopolies are definitely bad. On the other hand, I went from a £6.99 Netflix sub to:

Netflix family: £9.99
NowTV + Sports package: around £25 in total, per month
Disney: £7.99
Prime: £7.99
My solution to that problem: rotation. View stuff on one. Cancel, subscribe to the next and view there, cancel and so on until I'm back at number 1. Won't work for your sports stuff, but hey, if you want that, you're bound to get cheated.

Also, glass fibre internet now and cable tv: cancelled.

The Humble Choose Wisely Bundle has some adventure treats

Quoting: EhvisBundle contains a "we were here" game. Since humble doesn't offer an option to deny a dev income, I'll have to so no to the whole bundle.
What's the problem with the dev?
They deleted the native Linux versions of the games from Steam. And since the second game was not free, this is completely unacceptable.

Quoting: ArtenBut the situation is that it is not always the game developer's turn to break the promise. You have a situation where crytek promises that their engine will be usable under Linux to the game developer. Based on this promise, the developer himself promises to support Linux.

Crytek then doesn't keep his promise, and what else does the developer have left? It's true that the Warhorses didn't keep their promise, but not through their own fault.
IIRC, you could request a refund from Warhorse after they dropped it. Compared to others than simply gave the middle finger, Warhorse was pretty decent.

The Zink driver for OpenGL over Vulkan shows good performance on NVIDIA

Quoting: GuestPretty sure my sarcasm went soaring overhead.
It did as mentioned in the edit.

Quoting: GuestThe non-gaming world that's not going to be going anywhere...is starting to embrace Vulkan. It won't exactly switch overnight, and there is going to be a lot of software that relies upon OpenGL for a long, long time (there are still applications out there relying on OpenGL 1.x), but as I pointed out there are non-gaming applications starting to use Vulkan.
I don't think this is going to be the case. Sure some programs that rely on flashy graphics may make the switch. But most of those programs that still use OpenGL1/2 have no need for pbr shaders or gigabytes of textures. They just colour based representations of limited detail. Why would they want to deal with Vulkan? It's a complication without benefit.
