Feral Interactive have released a new teaser for a Linux & Mac port to come

So we can stop now with implausible guessing. Doom, SW2, Mermaid Ariel. If you had only thought for a second, it would have been clear for you that it could not be any of these games.

Quoting: freerunnerliveDoom, because it runs well with wine 4k, 1070.Okay, it is Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III. Feral changed the radar today.

Quoting: EikeThank you. Whether the teaser belongs to DoW or not, DoW comes with high probability for Linux.Quoting: chui2chQuoting: 0aTTQuoting: chui2chThis makes me think it is Dawn of War III.

Feral has no shares in Devolver Digital, absolute nothing. DD is working with a bunch of little developer teams like the Croteam, who do there own ports. Here is a list:

Quoting: ShmerlI don't see any indication that Feral can't be ones who made SW2 for Linux. The only counter argument could be if you know that FWH have Linux developers in-house. Which by now isn't known as I said before. After all we know SW2 is extremely unlikely. You are simply biased for SW2. Like others for Nier: Automata, Doom or whatever. What do you win? Should I list all the games that are more likely than SW2? This would be the half steam library. SW2 is one of the unlikeliest games to be ported by Feral.

I don't know how Dawn of War III would solve the feral radar riddle but would make absolute sense, because Dawn of War is in Ferals porting realm.

The fact that Feral has never ported a game for this publisher does not make it more likely. If we use your "could-be" approach we get dozens of games that would fit. So we could guess as well. Why Shadow Warrior 2 and not Hard Reset Redux for example?
25 Apr 2017 at 12:14 pm UTC
Quoting: ShmerlBecause it's completely arbitrary. By this we could think of more then 100 other games. Shadow Warrior don't solve the riddle anyway. There is no strong connection to "MADE TO WADE" or to 茶 - chá.Quoting: 0aTTHow do you know if it's likely or not? Flying Wild Hog used external developers to port Shadow Warrior (Aaron Melcher and initially Edward Rudd). Then supposedly Leszek Godlewski who used to port various games was working for them, but then he announced that he isn't working on Linux games anymore. We have no direct information that FWH have any Linux developers in-house (unless you've seen otherwise?). So why can't they hire Feral to do it?Quoting: ShmerlI don't understand why people think so. It makes absolute no sense, because it is nearly impossible that Feral would port this game. This developer and publisher already ported the first part to Linux. How likely is it that Feral now makes the port for the second part? Very unlikely.Quoting: Teal1500A lot of people think its shadow warrior 2.I really hope it is. How long does it usually take for Feral to move the game from "soon" to "very soon" and etc.?

Quoting: thed4rkn1teI'm an idiot. If the logo stands for Macha (goddess of war) and "made to wade" comes from lyrics of Crass - Major General Despair (as Feral have used slightly obscure songs before) then a logical solution is Dawn of War III. This would also be levering an existing relationship with developers Relic Entertainment (Dawn of War 2, Company of Heroes 2) and publisher Sega (Total War series)Dawn of War III would be possible. But how the logo is connected to Macha and how Macha is connected to Dawn of War and how this is connected to the song?

This is about solving a riddle and not about what you personally want.
I personally would love to see GTA V ported. If I search for 茶 and GTA V I get a lot results. Also the 茶 looks like V - somehow. It's GTA V! Hooray, Hooray!! Excuse my sarcasm, but it's just too funny.
"A riddle is a statement or question or phrase having a double or veiled meaning, put forth as a puzzle to be solved. Riddles are of two types: enigmas, which are problems generally expressed in metaphorical or allegorical language that require ingenuity and careful thinking for their solution, and conundra, which are questions relying for their effects on punning in either the question or the answer."

Ashes of the Singularity almost has Vulkan ready, doesn't have Linux on the radar right now

Quoting: [email protected]I originally wanted to support this dev. But if they're pushing Linux down the list. They will be going down on our list. Right to the bottom. It depends. I pay 20 Euro for Doom. That's okay for me. For full price they must give me support.

We have to wait, but it could be that with Vulkan simply no more ports are needed. That would be quite great. Perhaps Valve can automatically port the games in the future.
EDIT: The bad thing though is that the publishers do not provide support. But just by not doing this it could be very attractive for them to publish there games with Vulkan. ;)

Quoting: Mountain ManIf they had done their job right, they could have had the Linux version out yesterday. When will developers learn that trying back into a Linux port is the wrong way to do it?But Doom runs better than most ports. Much faster and more stable. And the steam hardware survey identifies wine. But as good as no one plays under wine. Except it is a wineport.

Canonical drop the Unity desktop environment for Ubuntu favour of going back to GNOME

Unity was a pain in the ass from the very beginning. There are still so many problems. With Ubuntu/Gnome we had lost a production ready and stable Linux OS for newbies. So new people switched to Linux Mint but this creates other problems, because Mint is only a community project.
The basis of Ubuntu is still rock solid and it's easy to use with a different desktop then Unity. But Unity is the default and especially new users without further guidance will not change this. So they end up with Unity. For most people a very disappointing experience. So people already have switched back to Windows 10 now.
Canonical has missed a great chance to pull people away from Windows 8 by creating a desktop that is even worse than Windows 8. And when you come from the Mac, Unity feels quite broken. It's just annoying
By the way, Canonical has not only canceled Unity but also Mir. This is almost even better, because now we can concentrate on Wayland. Great for games. The X server in honor, but it is simply not a contemporary display manager. The only effect of Mir was to hinder the introduction of Wayland. So we stick to the X server until today.
That Canonical discontinues Mir is for me as a Linux Gamer the best news of the year.
