The Steam Deck has released, here's my initial review

Quoting: F.UltraAnd to be completely honest, I don't even think that you will see such a video by the likes of LTT, my money will be on Phoronix to attempt it (perhaps not first, that will probably be some obscure Windows tinkering site/channel).
Just to provide information: The Phawx [External Link] has already installed Windows on a Steam Deck, but says that there is not much point in making a video about it until there are drivers for the iGPU. However, he also says that Windows is unlikely to be a good fit as the primary operating system on the device because of the lack of a keyboard and the way Steam OS 3 is engineered for the device. He even went so far as to recommend that users of devices like the Aya Neo and OneXPlayer use Steam OS 3 once it is available and functioning properly on those devices*, which he seems to expect to become the case.

*(Please note that I have watched so much Steam Deck coverage in recent days that there is some possibility that this recommendation was from someone else, but I seem to recall it as being in one of the Phawx's videos.)

Quoting: ghostdogHmm. Poor remote play performance is disappointing. I have an old laptop that I currently use for remote play and I was hoping the Deck could replace it.
Just so you know, LTT reported that remote play performance is very good. I don't know what the reason is for the discrepancy between their experience and Liam's. There are a lot of factors involved. It may be reason not to lose hope, though.

ELDEN RING is out and Verified for Steam Deck

Quoting: easbarbaElden Ring is running fine with great FPS on AMD/Mesa but all enemies but bosses/sellers are invisible.

I will just wait it out.
That's a feature, to make it even more challenging...
The funny thing is that I've heard that there is at least one invisible enemy, but it leaves a visible trail.

Quoting: slaapliedjeThis reminds me of the screenshots of the unfinished Black Ice / White Noise that was being made for the JaguarCD (which would have been the reason to own one...)
I never did get the CD, but I do have a Jaguar with a number of games from back then. I actually liked the included game, Cybermorph, but some of my other favorites were Alien vs. Predator, Iron Soldier, and Tempest 2000. There's nothing quite like it when you look at your motion detector and think, 'It looks almost like there's an alien right behind me, but that can't be...' as you turn around.
AvP on the Jaguar was so good. We're you able to get one of the JagGD (Game Drive) Carts yet? The rogue-like that came out is awesome as well. Still waiting on the release for the Metroidvania.
I only bought the system and the games for it back when they first came out. I haven't done any of the retro stuff with it. Every once in a while I hook it up and play it a bit.

Don't expect GOG to support the Steam Deck

Quoting: Avehicle7887With some effort they can be the 2nd best Linux game storefront to buy from.
The sad part is, the only one that might arguably prevent them from holding that distinction now is itch.io, at least to my knowledge.

ChimeraOS 30 is out with big OneXPlayer improvements

It took me a while to notice, but in this release the touchscreen on my Aya Neo Pro doesn't work. I have ruled out a hardware issue. It still works with other systems. Most of the time, it doesn't get in the way, but I found I had to hook up a trackball (or mouse) to get rid of the launcher in DIRT Rally.

If the Steam Deck is successful enough and they survive as a company, then they might start to consider actual Steam Deck support.

Valve clarifies how they test Native Linux or Proton for Steam Deck

Quoting: slaapliedjeI always buy nVidia GPUs, but the Feral ports have ran fine for me.
Actually, the one time that I have tried the native port of Tomb Raider (2013) on an NVIDIA card (GTX 1650), it seemed to run fine there for me also (tested near the middle of 2020). I generally would expect the Vulkan based ports to run fine on NVIDIA. I've seen a number of claims about Feral ported games, especially old OpenGL ones, not running correctly on NVIDIA cards, though.

Quoting: JpxsonI feel bad for Feral, I'm guessing Proton will be selected for all their games.
I wouldn't count on it. The Steam Deck has an AMD GPU.
