The Talos Principle has another stable build with Vulkan improvements, much better than OpenGL

When I select the renderer, it only offers the beta version of Vulkan. And if I select it, my system eventually hard freezes on me while playing. Has anyone else had this problem?

I Am The Hero, a surprisingly great beat 'em up has Linux support

Looks like a pixillated Viewtiful Joe. Consider me interested.

Looks like Killing Floor 2 may be coming to Linux from Knockout Games

I would pick up a copy for sure. There have been many sales for KF2 already, but I was able to resist. Will pick up a copy as soon as it releases for Linux. Aaron is doing great porting work, so the port, if it comes, will probably be technically flawless.
+1 on that.I've been looking forward to this game for a long time. And with Aaron working on the port, I'm sure it'll be spectacular.

I did a search of FORT DU KREMLIN-BICETRE games on DuckDuckGo, and one of the results was a Facebook page to Maxxi Games, which had a big picture of Agent 47 as the cover photo. I'm going with Hitman.

Some thoughts on switching from Ubuntu to Antergos for Linux gaming
18 Jan 2017 at 8:49 pm UTC Likes: 1

I made the same swith from Ubuntu MATE a few months back. Applets kept crashing on me when I switched to 16.10, even on a clean install. I decided to give a rolling release a try and remembered Chris @ LAS talking about Antergos. I booted it up, liked their Gnome DE - which is saying something since I normally don't like Gnome - installed it, then put Cinnamon on it. I've been in love ever since.

ARK: Survival Evolved plans to use Vulkan for Linux this year

Quoting: lvlarkWait, it's still in Early Access? Didn't realise that. Anyway, the game isn't for me, much too PvP-ish.
But ofcourse I'm not just posting to nag about the game in general. The game world does look wonderful, and I'm very curious if it'll perform admirably under Vulkan. Them getting it right will be a decent drive forward for Vulkan, I assume.
Why not try PVE? I host my own PVE server for friends. I like PVP but if you don't have a tremendous amount of time and a large clan it's hard to do anything with PVP. I also change the taming rates etc on my private PVE server so taming something doesn't take 6 hours. ;)
There's also a single-player mode if you prefer to play solo.

I've been able to get decent performance from my GTX 660, but I'll welcome a graphical boost from Vulkan any day.

Linux Gaming in 2016, an end of year review

Quoting: skinnyrafFor me it's the year when I finally made the switch. Sure, I have a backlog of Windows games plus I bought a few Windows only games for my kids (Lego, hem, hem) but there are more good new games coming to Linux than I have time to play
Same for me. This year was the year I got rid of my Windows install. I miss Dragon's Dogma, but not enough to deal with all those long updates. Now, I run nothing but Linux. No regrets.

What game are you truly thankful to have on Linux & SteamOS?

This is going to sound like a cop-out, but every big-name title, old and new. Because they further vindicate our favorite OS as a viable gaming platform.

If I have to pick one title, though, I think I'll go with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, because:
(A) It gives me hope of a Human Revolution port
(B) It further shows Eidos'/Square Enix's support of our platform
and (C) It came out not long after the Windows release

Here's to seeing more of this in 2017!

Linux Gaming in 2016, an end of year review

Quoting: gurvI don't have real disappointments, instead I'm worried about these two topics :
- Vulkan looks to have lost the battle vs DX12 already.
Just look at AAA games releases : every single one is getting a DX12 patch, none is getting a Vulkan one.
Well except for DOOM but DOOM is OpenGL so that doesn't really count.
:D
Doom also runs Vulkan.

Biggest disappointment for me: Batman Arkham Knight, followed by no Day-1 VR support for Vive.

Highlights: Oxenfree and Rocket League. I've been happy with all the games I picked up this year, though. Overlord is a gem!
