What are you playing this weekend and what do you think about it?

Been playing a lot of Stellaris lately—I'm getting back into it seriously for the first time since the game-changing 2.0 patch, and while I one of the people who were initially skeptical about the changes I find I'm actually enjoying the game a lot more now, especially the war side of things. Previously I tended to play really pacifistic empires as I found the war system confusing and cumbersome (compared to other Paradox grand strategy games), now I'm in the middle of a campaign as an empire of Determined Exterminator robots, trying to cleanse the galaxy of all organic life (and enjoying it a lot). :)

Some funny moments have occurred, such as when the Fanatic Xenophile fallen empire awoke, then their rivals the Fanatic Xenophobes awoke a few years later and started a War in Heaven. I tried to stay neutral (as I wanted to wipe both of them out), but the Xenophiles declared war on me and forced me to become a vassal, drawing me into their war. In revenge I continued expanding peacefully and upgrading my tech, eventually taking out the Xenophobe empire they were fighting (while also fighting off attacks from the Fanatic Spiritualist fallen empire every decade or so because one of my sectors colonized one of their holy worlds). And while all this was happening, The Contingency (an ancient machine empire trying to destroy all advanced life in the galaxy) awoke and because of how much of the galaxy I owned three out of four of its initial expansion sites were near my borders, so I had to destroy them. All this finally left me strong enough to break free of my masters, then conquer them in turn…which transferred all of their vassals (which was most of the rest of the empires in the galaxy by this point) to me :O. Now I'm the undisputed master of the galaxy, having wiped out two more fallen empires along the way, just waiting to conquer or integrate my vassals to get that sweet, sweet achievement. :woot:

Vulpine is an action & exploration game involving animals armed to the teeth, coming to Linux

Was that a giant blue pangolin [External Link] they were fighting? One of my favorite animals, never seen one in a game before! :D Now if I could just play as one… ^_^

Also that art style is fantastic. I'm a huge sucker for that kind of stylized representation. This isn't the type of game I'd normally play, but I'm definitely gonna keep an eye on this one. The online co-op multiplayer is an extra bonus.

Also that tagline of simply "Be a fox with a sword!" is pretty funny. :)

Grab your chef's hat as crazy party game Overcooked! 2 looks like it will be on Linux (updated)

Never played the first one but I watched a few Let's Plays of it, and it looked hilarious. Hopefully they get cross-platform multiplayer sorted out though or I don't have much reason to buy it. :|

Portal puzzler 'Portarius' is now available on Linux

Quoting: PortariusSorry for the late reply, I haven't received the email notification although I explicitly subscribed to them.

Thanks for the kind words! You're definitely not the first one to comment on that, and that's is something we're looking into. It's not hard to implement, but we're afraid it'll make it too simple, that being said - stay tuned and it might come in one of the next updates!

Just out of curiosity, what distro are you using? Have you had any issues so far?
No worries. I don't think it's a bad design choice, necessarily, I just wasn't expecting it and didn't realize it for a few levels; maybe having some sort of help right at the beginning explaining it would be nice, but it wasn't that difficult to figure out. And when I did I realized I need to play a bit more strategically, which was different. Though I wouldn't mind it being that way, perhaps as an option for people to choose.

I'm on Debian testing, updated every few days. Haven't had any issues so far. I thought it froze the first time I loaded it up so I force-quit it, but I think I just didn't give it enough time to get to the main menu (I wasn't expecting it to take so long to load).

Stellaris: Distant Stars Story Pack and the 2.1 patch are now out

As an astronomer I'm so happy to finally see multiple-star systems in the game! :D

I also really enjoy the Leviathans (I picked up that story pack pretty much entirely for the Ether Drake :)), so I'm definitely picking this one up.

Well, I tried it, and the lack of movement was not nearly as annoying as I'd expected. The levels (at least so far) take up only a single screen, it's nearly impossible to get stuck, and going through a portal gives you a little boost which means you never end up in a position where you've run out of momentum and can't progress.

What caught me off-guard more was the fact that instead of choosing which color portal you shoot (like in Portal) it instead alternates each time, which made for more of a cerebral challenge when I finally noticed it a few levels in.

It's definitely a simple and fun game (and the music is quite nice :)), hopefully I can find time to play through it fully in the future.

A platformer where you play as a fox, changing the seasons to advance…

For a second I thought Seasons After Fall had changed its name and had a Linux release.

I've been playing with a friend, and I decided to woo Emily this time, so I gave her something she loved for her birthday which got me up to almost 4 hearts. I entered her house looking to give her a gift and triggered her 2 heart cutscene. Ok, that's cool, I watched it, gave her the gift, exited the house…and immediately triggered her 4 heart cutscene (which takes place just outside her house) because the gift had put me over 4 hearts! But it takes a few seconds for anything to happen in that one so I was a little confused briefly, especially as my friend came along randomly at exactly that moment and ran by in front of the house! It was pretty hilarious. :D

The only issue we've had so far is that one time my friend (I'm hosting) randomly got stuck in a loading screen between areas, something like 15 or 16 days in. He eventually had to just disconnect and I think he lost his progress he'd made that day (since it wasn't saved), but it's only happened once so far and we're in early summer now.

Sounds like your parks are going to get busier in Parkitect and perform better

I saw that shot in the dev log and thought "Whoah, I don't want THAT many people!" Then I saw it was just a stress test, so I'm cool with it. :)
