Quoting: liamdawejust in reality it is only 1-2 minutes of people's time until then, so while a very minor botherYou and I have very different views on the costs and botheration factor inherent in setting up Yet Another Account, apparently. :)
Contraption Maker, a slight oldie but a great Linux game to check out if you like your puzzles

I didn't realize this came out in 2015; I picked it up in 2016 and thought it was new.
I used to love The Incredible Machine 3 and got Contraption Maker in a fit of nostalgia based on the fact that the same people worked on it, though my tastes in games have apparently moved on and I didn't have as much fun with it as I'd hoped. It's a good game, don't get me wrong, I guess I'm just not in the mood for solving puzzles as much anymore. I don't regret getting it, though, and I'll probably still work away at it slowly. :)

Quoting: Mountain ManI think once I get some more cash to spend, I'll be giving a bunch of it to Paradox. Crusader Kings II, Europa Universalis IV, Hearts of Iron IV, and Stellaris all have juicy new content that I want to buy!I did basically this the last two weeks (yay new job and more disposable income! :) ). Picked up HoI IV and Stellaris both of which I've been wanting to get since they came out, along with Together for Victory, all the Stellaris DLCs, and pre-ordered Mandate of Heaven and Utopia.
Stellaris: Utopia expansion released, some thoughts on the game as a whole now

(For the record I just picked up Stellaris last week, and am still very much in love with it, though I can see what you said about getting the same anomalies multiple times being a little annoying.)

For a strategy game, there's a distinct lack of strategy when it comes to battles and that goes for ground battles too.I believe you're confusing strategy with tactics. Strategy is choosing the composition and disposition of your forces to be most favorable to yourself, and choosing where and when you engage an enemy to stack the deck in your favor as much as possible. Moving fleets around the galaxy and choosing where you fight, that sort of thing. Tactics is controlling individual elements (like ships) of a battle, and isn't really a thing in any of Paradox's game—you're supposed to be winning the war at the "Sun-Tzu grand-strategy" level, not the "individual skirmishes of each battle" level. :)

It also has a nice demo, which is the only way I've experienced it so far; but my friend and I keep talking about getting it…
Stellaris: Utopia, the first major expansion is now up for pre-order

Quoting: fractalPre-ordering a DLC? No incentives to lure me in? Paradox is getting cheekier than usual :P.Me too—I couldn't afford it when it came out despite having had my eye on it for a while, but having just started a new job this month I'm hoping to spend my first paycheck on Stellaris + expansions. :)
Other than that I'm silently hoping for a -50% sale on the base game so I can snatch it along with the expansion as I had my eye on it for a while.

Strange you're having problems with the co-op, I've been playing with a friend who's on Windows with me hosting and haven't had a single issue so far. Weird. Might be interesting to check with a number of combinations (hosting on Windows/joining on Linux, hosting on Linux/joining on Mac, etc.) to see if there are specific bugs that Valve could fix.

It's touching something I don't remember being done before; building your own aquarium. The original Zoo Tycoon had two expansions, one of which was specifically aquarium-themed, allowing you to add tanks and a large number of aquatic animals to your zoo and have things like dolphin, orca, or sea lion shows. But that's quite a long time ago, so it's cool to see a modern take on the idea.

Back at the end of 2013/start of 2014 I was finally starting to get serious (though still hesitating) about ditching my aging Windows laptop in favor of a Linux gaming desktop, and I was also really into XCOM:EU at the time. The announcement that it was coming to Linux and I wouldn't have to give it up was a not-insignificant factor in accelerating my decision, so thanks guys! :D
