Honestly there are better ways to express your displeasure with his unsolicited advice; "Thank you clippy" seems a good deal more on point, and a lot more insulting. ;)

In The Middle Of Zombies, a promising in-development action game with Linux support

Looks fun, I'd wishlist it but it's not on steam? - Hopefully I wont have forgotten about it by the time it's actually released

Minecraft just had a seriously huge update named Village & Pillage
24 Apr 2019 at 7:19 am UTC

Minecraft and "Minecraft: Java edition" both had a release - virtually simultaneously ; 1.11 and 1.14 respectively both containing the village & pillage update. This is great news as the teams are clearly gaining ground in trying to create feature parity between the versions.

As for "Minecraft: Java edition" beeing "the one that actually supports Linux" - it's java.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but you can also run Minecraft on linux with minimal fuss;

It uses the android version - so you need to buy/own it on google play

Ah yes the 90s internet - tons of animated gifs, looping midi files and pages that were permanently "under construction"

"Anyone can put anything they want up for everyone else to see!"
"yes.. that accurately describes the problem"

Template websites and blogs* had helped reduce the visual torture aspect quite a bit, but 90% of what's stored online still qualifies as complete and utter garbage.

*) when exactly did we become so ego centric that we decided to drop "we" from weblog ?

There's some pretty big sales going on right now, here's a look

Quoting: ziabiceIf I recall correctly, it's the first time that Valve gives customers money (credit) for purchases: game stores battle has begun!
I wouldn't go as far as them giving you money. I received 5000 tokens and I have a suspicion that that is the maximum amount. Since you need 15000 to get 5 euro off, you need to spend 83 Euro to get there. I small return from the money they earn.
heh I had the same though when I received 4000 tokens "based on previous purchases" - why is it a round number? must be the max amount ^^

Still it's *very* gimicky, something I expect from less serious shops. But maybe "loyalty" programs such as this is the new norm

Steam Play is great for a younger audience with games like LEGO Jurassic World

Sorry. :( It worked perfectly for me with that fix. Weird that it fails the same way on both machines though, with different hardware. A distro issue, maybe?
One is Linuxmint 19 ( Ubuntu 18.04 base iirc) the other Ubuntu 18.10

Weird thing is that according to https://www.protondb.com/app/214510 [External Link] other people with similar gfx,driver and os are giving it gold/silver

Is there anyway to get proton to spit out some usefull debug info?

Quoting: GuestUnfortunately I was not able to get LEGO Lord of the Rings to work with Proton ._. but had not much time to fiddle around with the prefix.
It just needs DX9 via winetricks:

WINEPREFIX=~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/compatdata/214510/pfx winetricks directx9
(You might also need to set WINEARCH=win64, depending on the default for your distro.)

It seems to work fine, although I've only played the intro/tutorial. I'm still finishing off The Hobbit.

As I said the other day, I think the Lego games lost a lot of their charm when they started voicing the characters, but they're still a lot of fun, even as a bit of a guilty pleasure for us grown-ups. :) (Two free Lego games in as many weeks? Now I know it's Christmas.)
This fixed the crash after the first credit screen for me - but on both computeres here (GTX970 & R9 380) it then gets stuck when starting / loading a game - just shows an almost black screen of a brazier with the ring in it.

Any tips for getting past that?

Quoting: TheRiddickIf Microsoft really wanted to outdo themselves, they can use Linux as the backend for their next windows release, now that would be crazy, maybe make WINDOWS a desktop environment just like gnome/xfce/plasma5, that be pretty cool.

Mind in the clouds thoughts, I know...
It would have to be a DE that did all the bad stuff Windows 10 is supposed to do now. I wouldn't want it as much as don't want Windows 10.
Why would I want a Linux coming from Microsoft, when I can have a real one without MS spyware?
Nah "Windows Next" - with a compatibility modes in the form of wine/dosbox, that could be done today - hell it was done more or less 17 years ago ( Lindows )

And why you would want a Linux distro with the Microsoft stamp on it? Not for your self properly as It's hard to imagine it wouldn't come with half the OS in the form of proprietary binaries - but, a mac os like thing would mean more programs & games that works out of the box with Linux ;)

A guy can dream...

It's sometimes hard to remember that microsoft is no longer the company of yore, because when I hear the name my mind automatically goes to things like the stacker case and F.U.D.

I kind of like this new company and I can write that with little to no sour taste in my mouth xD

Off Grid gives you data as your weapon in this stealth hacking game, now crowdfunding with Linux support

Quoting: salamanderrakeCrowdfunding with linux support means as soon as they get the money they need they abandon linux.
There is a Linux demo so that speaks for them at least, I mean if they already have the a MWP running on Linux I doubt they will just drop it.

seems the Linux build is younger that the article;
