Quoting: TheSyldatTry googling "metaphor"Quoting: GuppyIt getting really tiresome to see the spread of the trend of only being allowed to hold an opinion as long as it the exact same as the most "oppressed" person in the room and any deviation from it means your going to be publicly crucified. You do an awful lot of talking and seems to be awfully healthy for a freshly publicly crucified human ...

They made a sale clearly pandering to a political "movement" commenting about it in this light is only fair.

Quoting: TheSyldat... to the snowflakes hunting for their daily fix of outrage.Quoting: devnullThe comment above about Virtue Signaling is exactly what this is about. In other words
Humble Bundle : "Here is a bouquet of deals on games featuring a female protagonist have fun"
Most dudes in the comment section of that article : "Oh my god stop oppressing me the cis male who's so much not represented in games" ...
Do you start to see why your reaction contributes to the problem and to the anger at large.
It may not be how you want it to sound but that's INEVITABLY how it sounds ...

Quoting: KimyrielleAs well you should sympatize! Ah, the legions of young boys that have been scared for life by not having the option of playing tombraider as a male protagonist. I tell you; the safespaces were flooded with their tears, some are there weeping still!Quoting: ElectricPrismIn the name of equality I wonder if people would have been outraged if Humble Bundle had a "Male Protagonist Sale"I guess if male protagonists will ever be grossly underrepresented and marginalized in gaming in the same way female characters are today, it might actually be a thing!
If...it -really- will ever come down to that, I will sympathize. Promise!

The latest Steam Client Beta has some fixes for Steam Play, Steam Link improvements and so on

Ohoh! I just found a reason to get a 2nd steam link :D
I do wish they would do something about the inconsistency of screen casting tho, some titles will work just fine on Linux+Bigscreen, but will have strange scaling issues or just display pure green when played though the link ( while the actual Linux monitor shows the correct output )

I know it's early access - but the running animation (2nd video on steam) is hopefully a placeholder :X

I'm guessing because it's beta - but the "steam play" settings are not available in big screen mode, you need to exit that and go to the regular setting if you want to change anything.
I'm still on Linux Mint 18.3 ( = Ubuntu Xenial = 16.04 ) I guess I need to upgrade to Linux Mint 19 ( = Ubuntu Bionic 18.04 ) for this to work properly or is it enough to upgrade to Nvidia drivers?

For a realtime raytracing card it somewhat disappointing that the game demoing it (battlefield 5) is obviously using polygon models :(
I guess full raytracing engines are still a thing of the future

- Even "early access" is 2 years out
- Steam as secondary release platform
- There is no evidence they have ever released anything on Linux
- The only place Linux is mentioned is in the FAQ where they basically just list platforms that Steam currently support.
My prediction; in 2-3 years they will drop Linux support because it's too hard to release for the platfrom ( ie. they have to do more than just hit a "package for Linux" button )

Quoting: tuubiLooks fun! I won't pledge, but hope to buy it some day.Same, the game looks interesting enough that I was considering backing it - but it has so many red flags;

This could be very good, if it's a customized install for each game - preferably with workshop integration so you can one click install all the tweaks and settings that will make a game run without affecting you system otherwise.
That would be great, because honestly that is my biggest beef with wine currently, having to use a special dev version with a bunch off .patch files and a hand full of extra programs to make a game potentially run, all of which inevitably messes up wine for your other games.
But I more or less expect it to just install plain wine and offer to attempt to run windows games with that, which would suck :(
