Nightside Is That RTS Game I’ve Been Waiting For On Linux
11 Mar 2015 at 2:02 pm UTC

Quoting: coolboberGreat. I'm waiting for game like starcraft. However in my opinion Planetary Annihilation is also great RTs.
It certainly is great, and is very well worth grabbing for any RTS fan.

And, I might add, this game looks terrific. If there is any underrrepresented genre in Linux gaming, its RTS. If we had half as many FPS games and twice as many RTS games, I'd be a even happier gamer.

Not that I'm not a happy gamer.

The penguin logo has been replaced by the Steam logo  ...BTW, The Witcher 3:Wild Hunt :woot: is included in the list.

Liam, this might be worth its own headline.

PA is definitely the RTS champ these days, as far as I'm concerned. It's one of the games I supported on Kickstarter, and I have been well rewarded for that support.

Lots Of Big Games Confirmed For SteamOS, Torchlight II Now Out, Payday 2, Mordor And More Coming Too

The eON wrapper for The Witcher 2 was terrible when first released, but, to give credit where credit's due, VP did work pretty diligently to improve it, and, apparently, the new beta is a winner. I will find out when I get a new, working motherboard Real Soon Now.

I'm not too worried about the prospects for a Linux version of The Wild Hunt; RedPROJEKT is the owner of GOG.com, and they are trying hard to support Linux, so I have a (wan) hope that we may yet see a Linux version; perhaps with a good eON wrapper, but playable nonetheless.

With a game with this much anticipation, it is to RP's benefit to make it cross-platform, so I maintain a wan hope.

Torchlight II Now On Linux, Old News By A Day, But Here’s My Report

Hmmmm..Yet Another Game that I bought on Windows in my dual-boot days (along with X-COM, The Witcher 2, Bioshock Infinite, Borderlands 2, and Empire:Total War) that are counted as Windows sales :'( .

Oh, well. I'll probably buy it anyway.

HTC & Valve Announce The HTC RE Vive

For myself, a VR device that will not be owned by Facebook is something I am very interested in. If it is owned by FB, as Nixie Pixel predicted, say, if you're playing a game and you see a character wearing a hat and linger on it for a second, it will be able to see where you're looking and put up a popup saying "We see you like that hat! Here's one for sale!" This is a Bad Thing.

Let's just say that I trust Gabe Newell more than I trust Mark Zuckerberg. That may be misplaced trust, but that's how I feel, and I'm sticking with it.

Ars Technica On The State Of Linux Gaming

I had dual-booted for about 3 years, enough to acquire 436 Steam games :dizzy: , of which 319 (73%!) are native Linux games  . I found Windows, after using Linux, to be incredibly annoying to use. The "Windows cannot update files while they are in use" statement really burned my @$$, and a frozen mouse pointer (which worked fine in Safe Mode, and then was frozen again after a reboot :><: kept me from booting into it. Yes, I know I could have reinstalled Windows, which I would have had to do, as the repair function did not work for me. And I did not want to. Linux just works. Windows 7 just did not.

Once X-COM came out and appeared in my Steam library, I said "To heck with Windows" and deleted the partition and am NOT looking back, ever. Since then, another Windows game I had bought, Empire:Total War, came out for Linux. I'd like to see some others (the Deus Ex series, Magicka, Bioshock I, Warhammer among them), but I have more than enough native Linux games available to keep this old gamer happy.

Yes, some Linux games run more slowly than some Windows games, but I was certainly used to that from running games on wine, so I consider that a wash. They all run 30+ fps, which consider, well, acceptable.

In other words, LINUX GAMING FTW!

NEON STRUCT From Eldritch Developer To Release For Linux In May

I am most impressed with the trailer. I like indie games that don't go for retro 8-bit graphics  , but come up with something a little more unique (reminds me of Phroot's game look, actually, and that a good thing).

I've never been a big fan of Sokoban-type games, but this does look adorable, if a little mobile-looking. Not that there's anything wrong with that...
