I downloaded Planescape and Baldurs Gate 2, and both had no sound. Oddly, the same games, run via PlayOnLinux, had sound. Trying to figure this one out.
The specs do say that 14.04 is required; to get the sound working they say to:
The earliest Ubuntu release to include libasound-data is 13.10. I'm running Precise on a Chrubuntu Acer C7.
I just tried to install Planescape with PlayOnLinux, and this wasn't the first time I had done that. This time, POL crashed.:><:

Just after I had bought all the DLC (or so I thought) on the Paradox Steam sale for CK2, they come out with this.

It's a pretty fun and somewhat frustrating game, where you have to backtrack to hire more troops. The battles are fun enough, and it does have a story.

The current 0AD is pretty sweet; the graphics are improved, and it's a pretty good sandbox. I've been watching its development for abut 5 years now, and it's well worth downloading!

Europa Universalis IV, which I certainly consider an AAA game, did come out August 13,2013 for Windows, Mac and Linux on the same day. This native port was developed in-house by Paradox Development Studios. NO slagging of Aspyr or Feral (who are freaking awesome) intended here.
Just sayin'.

While ATI cards frequently work better with open source drivers (and some can't work without them), nVidia cards work far better with the proprietary drivers than the Nouveau drivers, as prectically everyone already knows. ATI has been pretty good about helping the open source devs with the "radeon" driver, which, considering how frequently the obsolete their chips, is really nice of them.
I buy lots of closed-source games. If they run better with closed-source drivers, so be it. Just because I am a Linux diehard (just ask my friends and family) does not preclude my use of the nVidia drivers, nor, iMHO, should it.

This is indeed disturbing; at least Steam tells you what is happening. IF it is truly nothing but anonymous hardware data, I guess it's OK, but they should have told us a lot earlier.
And, yes, 0.1% Linux users is way, way under reporting the actual numbers. I believe Steam's stats, and I certainly don't believe these, although their distro figures seem about right.
