I was waiting a long time for any W40k game that will have Necrons. Last one was DoW 1. And its 4X turn-based game, even better for me.

Quoting: ZlopezThanks for confirmation. I tried to ask the Feral directly, but didn't get any answer for now.I got the response from Feral:
Quoting: Feral SupportI'm afraid we can't go into the nitty-gritty of our accounting, but to support us directly please feel free to buy the game from the Feral Store.

Quoting: cRaZy-bisCuiTIf you buy on Steam for Linux, they'll get a share. If you buy from their store, they'll get much more. Thanks, but I already knew this. I want to play singleplayer for the story. This is why I played every DoW game.
Also please note the game has NO cross platform Multilayer between Windows and Linux - that could be a pitfall if you'd like to play this with your friends.
Quoting: EhvisSteam determines the platform by the most hours played in the first 7 days. If the game was not played during that time, the platform of purchase counts. If the platform is Linux (or Mac), Feral gets their cut. Thanks for confirmation. I tried to ask the Feral directly, but didn't get any answer for now.
Obviously Feral has not discussed their contracts with the publisher handles the split of income. But that should not differ between the Feral store on any other stores. The only real difference is that purchases from the Feral store aren't subject to the 30% cut from Steam.

I want to buy a Dawn of War III, but I don't know if Feral get anything from the sold copy if I buy it on Steam.
Does anyone know if they are getting they share? If not I will rather wait till the sale will be in the Feral store.

As far as I know the snap is only supported by Ubuntu, other distributions wants to use Flatpak. And the Flatpak package for Steam is already worked on GitHub [External Link]
I wonder why Canonical always wants to have something special that is not used in nowhere else (See: Unity, Mir ...)

Quoting: razing32You are right, people just get used to this tactics. You don't even get the whole game on release. Because there is many missing things, that are added like DLC and the price is sometimes higher than the original game. The picture bellow is sadly accurate.Quoting: BrisseSTOP PRE-ORDERINGSadly too late for that now.
There's absolutely no point in pre-ordering, especially when using digital distribution such as Steam. It doesn't benefit you as a consumer one bit and it's always risky.
Pre-orders , season pass (basically DLC Pre-order) , microtransactions in full price games , loot crates etc.
These things are becoming more and more ubiquitous and people are getting used to them. If you call them out you look like the bad guy.
I'm resolute to be cynical and watch the world burn :P

But I know that some studios are using the kickstarter only as a statistic to see how much this particular game is wanted and if they should spend any time and resources to make it. Which is bad.

Quoting: mcphailBut it at least helps to make some games come true. For a small team it is really a kickstart for they project.Quoting: GuppyKickstarter is NOT a pre-order! it's crowd sourced investment/venture capital - and sometime your investment returns no yield. Basically do not spend money on a kickstarter unless you accept that they may be lost with no reward to you.Erm, I hate to break it to you, but Kickstarter has nothing to do with investment. "Backers" do not get shares in the company or profits. It is only a preorder mechanism disguised as an investment to circumvent expectations of a guaranteed product at the end of the process. It is preordering made worse.

Quoting: Alm888Steam and GOG are encouraging this type of behaviour. Even Valve itself did this with HTC Vive! What about kickstarter?
I've yet to see a single developer who got punished for release-day cancelling.
At this stage the "No Tux == No Bucks" and "Never Pre-Order" rules are obligatory.
