Day one purchase for me. Been waiting for this game for a long time. I guess it's time to start shopping for a wheel.

A new radeonsi (Mesa) patch should fix issues in many games for AMD GPU owners
21 Jan 2017 at 7:35 pm UTC

I have been keeping a close eye on this as I really wanted a RX480 but chose to go with a 1070 due to driver support. So I would like to thank all involved who are working hard to improve the drivers.

The AMD drivers have been progressing very well recently so I really am looking to put a VEGA gpu into my new ZEN build once released. I may just have a full AMD system soon if all goes well.

Shamefull behaviour.

Mocking the linux community by rubbing this in our face. I will never purchase anything from these clowns as they are now on my s**t list. This behaviour is the reason why I have never pledged to a kickstarter project.

Some thoughts on switching from Ubuntu to Antergos for Linux gaming
18 Jan 2017 at 11:12 pm UTC Likes: 1

I started with Mint 17.3 and then moved to Manjaro and the improvment was so huge that I am still using it to this day. Gaming has not been an issue for me since moving to Manjaro and the performance has been excellent.

It was a little strange at first as I had to learn Pacman and a number of other changes but the best change for me were the ability to easily install new kernels and access to the AUR.

I have tried Antergos on my laptop as I had some issues getting Manjaro installed on my MSI Skylake laptop due to nvidia intel dual graphics. I did like it but I prefered Manjaro so I have now switched back as I managed to get this installed now that kernel 4.9 is out.

I am not ready to try pure arch yet but plan to give it a try in the future. I may give Antergos another try on a spare desktop machine.

Multiple statistics have shown Linux market-share doing better than ever

I have only been using linux for around 9 months so I consider myself part of the Linux 2016 growth figure.

It would be interesting to see how many new linux users are joining GOL as I have been following this site from day 1 to keep an eye on new linux releases.

Learning to use Linux was the best decision I have ever made and wish that I had tried it years ago. I would never go back to windows now and this is all thanks to windows 10 giving me the push to try Linux.

I do believe that by the end of 2017 that we may just reach a 5% marketshare figure, Hopefully.

Wine 2.0-rc4 released, fixing 28 bugs to make sure the final release is solid

I am pleased to see that wine is making progress, However its easier in most cases to just shut down the PC and swap boot drives and boot into windows 7.

I rarely boot into windows these days but I recently tried wine with doom as I was curious. I did get it to work but it took me nearly 30 mins to set up. Wine has improved alot recently though and I was really pleased with the performance of doom. Doom even worked on my optimus laptop running a 970m with really good frame rates.

Wine could really do with an easy to use GUI to simplify the whole process. Play on linux is ok but its really buggy and fiddly to set up.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is about to get ~70% better performance with RadeonSI

This is great news.

Despite owning a 4770k CPU with GTX 1070, I really want to buy both Ryzen and Vega to help AMD compete so will be keeping an eye on developments over the coming months.

AMD drivers was the only reason I didnt get a RX480 so a 70% performance increase in DeusEx is superb news as I want to play this game in 4k but only get 20 fps on my gtx 1070 so have decided not to play the game at this time.

Just got this from feral store today after reading this review and so far I have to say that I am loving this game. The game alsovbruns great and graphics look fantastic.

Here is a benchmark on my system running on Medium settings @ 1080p with a GTX 1070 and game installed onto a 850 evo SSD.

Average - 58.5
Minimum - 41.3
Maximum - 85.3

I plan to have a play around in the settings to see if I can improve.

Once again I would like to say thankyou to feral for another great port.
