EVERSPACE 2 announced, with more of a focus on exploration and it will release for Linux

Quoteit's ditching the rogue-like die and repeat mechanics. Instead, it's going to be a full open-world exploration based story experience.
Easily the most annoying part of the otherwise super-high quality original. If the open world is done well (easily the hardest thing in all-space-dom), this will be a real gem. Absolutely will back.

Quoting: dpanterWorth noting, as one Steam review mentioned; Subdivision Infinity DX is a $15 port of a FREE mobile game... even recommended getting the free game instead.
Good point, and quite right.

Quoting: dpanterRebel Galaxy Outlaw looked pretty dang nice... hope they enjoy that EGS money.
I'm happy to wait the year or 18 months or whatever the exclusivity is for it to come to Steam. I'll use my dollars to reward Valve as the Proton it will run on was funded by them in the first place...

Quoting: chancho_zombiespace combat really felt awkward with a mouse, so not supporting mouse it's a good decision imho.
Gotta say, as a hard core space gamer, there's really no other way I want to play it anymore... Ideally, in a zero G environment, it plays best IMHO with FPS/mouse like setup, almost like you'd use in Descent...

Quoting: GuestI noticed yesterday that it had shown up in Steam's "new and trending" section, which is good to see (if even for a short while).

Cheers for not only the game, but continued updates as well.
Sales might not have been helped by the fact that there are also right now two other ongoing Space Shooter genre releases for Windows at the same time as Space Mercs, so genre fans looking to pick up one might be waiting:

* Rebel Galaxy Outlaw - Highly anticipated AAA exclusive release on Epic Store
* Subdivision Infinity DX - Action space shooter, a mobile to Windows release that looks VERY similar to Space Mercs...

Egosoft have revealed the first big expansion to X4: Foundations with X4: Split Vendetta

Kind of surprised the reviews are so negative, but this is fairly standard with EgoSoft titles. You're kind of all-in and know what you're getting, or you're gonna be negative...

I actually started playing around with this and the EA title Void Destroyer 2 around the same time and since then, much to my own surprise, I have been much more drawn to VD2 than X4 actually, with more time in that game and more interest despite the fact that X4 is native Linux and is the undeniably more AAA title. Score one for the indies (actually, one dev).

I usually wait for 2-3 content releases to go all in on X games anyway.

@Patola, pre this DLC release, as someone with 100+ hrs in the game, how are missions and quests and story? I'm generally not looking to build my own galactic corporate empire and tend to be more focused...

Space Game Junkies (Windows gaming site/Youtube/Discord and a worthy follow if you like the genre) did a playthrough of it also, but yeah, more or less right...

Quoting: chris.echozDay of Infamy performs pretty all right in-game, but the load times are abysmal on Linux
Have you ever tried it on Proton instead? I wonder if loading times are better for the Windows version.

Huh, I wasn't aware of this, thanks for reporting it!

QuoteApart from a rather long initial load time...

This seems to be a downside of the entire Day of Infamy / Insurgency series....

This is on my list to try. There are a lot of great car mods made for this. I'm also sure my (pre-driving age) kids will love it...
