So almost exclusively X-Plane 11, which is really a remarkable title. I use flight sims to get over some flight anxiety (hey, if I can plot a route in heavy fog and storms and land the plane with GPS/ILS assist, I assume the pros can, right? RIGHT?!?). Needless to say, I have some upcoming trips. It's a remarkable title, and the community mods (scenery, ATC, even a script that grades your landing quality) are amazing. Has anyone ever tried this in Proton? I wonder if it runs as well and, if so, that opens open certain exclusive Windows mods...

Aside from that, been on two day 1 native linux releases, Space Mercs and Defend the keep, both quite fun and terrific additions.

A three-way look at Rocket League on Linux, with D9VK versus Linux Native

D9VK certainly doesn't work well with everything. Playing Angels Fall First, I saw no real difference in FPS with D9VK vs standard Proton/Wine compatibility, and some aspects of the game looked off and actually played off (a few keystrokes wouldn't work). Not perfect yet!

Quoting: iiariInstant purchase! Going to play now...

Hope you have more luck than me - does not work for me.
I still use a 5:4 screen and game starts in windowed mode - no native resolution support:(
Game hangs on start.

Currently I have no time to look deeper into that.
Runs for me, but won't let me use my full resolution and won't let me use mouse... Oddly, both of those were fine in the beta. Will let them know...

Steam Play Proton 4.11 released, a pretty huge release pulling in D9VK and a replacement for esync

Quoting: liamdaweWe get far more than retro inspired games and you know that.
Quite right. This has actually felt like a busy year so far. Of course, we're in a moment of transition where Linux gaming is going from Linux "primary programming" to a future of "Linux compatible." Cloud gaming is, of course, part of this too. You know this, of course, and your coverage has been reflecting that. And all of this is tremendously exciting and scary at the same time. I think there will always be a place for native Linux gaming and Windows and Cloud compatibility to still be relevant and to need media coverage. We'll need sites like yours to keep future Cloud and streaming providers focused on making Linux clients and to follow all of the tech coverage as Linux becomes the universal, platform agnostic OS powering all of these systems.

Oh, and regarding Feral, I've always wondered if they would become a more behind the scenes company now focusing on helping other game makers transition to Linux. I guess time will tell...

Addendum: Ohmygosh I'm so happy D9VK has been integrated into Proton. I've been busy and haven't bothered tinking with it yet, so the opportunity to try it with my many DX9 using titles (especially Angels Fall First) is exciting.

Quoting: PlintslîchoBut now I'm really missing it and I'd love to play some multiplayer again. There simply is no other multiplayer game like Battlefield.
If you have the retail version, run it through the Lutris launcher instead and use Proton as the runner rather than Wine-Staging. Maybe MP will work for you that way. Or maybe try running it through the Steam launcher itself if that doesn't work. The MP is worth tinkering for...

I've been playing a lot recently with my kids away at camp:

Native:
Rocket League:
So much RL, so much. Nearly a drug

X Plane 11:
Coming back to it as a tool to conquer my fear of flying before an upcoming trip... A terrific title to have on Linux.

Steel Rats:
Just starting this one, seems like fun, unique visual style. Controls are different....

Super Hot:
Price came down recently, and I picked it up. I'm not sure how much I'll play it (I don't love constantly replaying levels when I die) but no other game has made me feel more like a Matrix-like super hero than this one.

FTL:
I never got into it, and am giving it another shot to decide if it's enjoyable or not...

Proton/Wine:
Angels Fall First:
So much AFF. Best title no one is playing. Like Battlefield 2, but better, and in space.

Void Destroyer 2:
Just starting to gain moment in this early access title as it hits beta. Kinda like Elite or I-War 2. Possibly, once you get by the graphical style, a space sim legend in the making. It's great, and a one man indie dev project to boot.

The Battlefields:
I discussed this in a post above.

Quoting: PlintslîchoBattlefield Bad Company 2. This is the first Battlefield game that I've played and I still think it's one of the best multiplayer FPS. No other game like it. Unfortunately, Punkbuster isn't working properly in Wine, so, sadly, no multiplayer. =(
Playing this through Proton multiplayer this game works fine for me, and it's a blast. I've played Battlefield 4, 5, and One via Lutris, and I think many ranking lists out there are correct that BF:Bad Company 2 is the best of them, especially for multiplayer. The Maps are terrific, really epic, and so well balanced. The downside is that the people left on multiplayer after all these years have mad skills, making MP a fairly unforgiving environment. The absolute best I've managed on MP is mid-pack...

BTW: I think I've decided that the Battlefields are my favorite FPS so far. Sure, Insurgency is more realistic and nail biting, and the COD series is faster paced action, but the Battlefields have the best mix of realism and gaming (it's supposed to be fun in the end) and its degree of immersion in the environment is just unmatched.
