As GOG struggles, Steam hit a new high of 27M people online

GOG is in a bad place; when they started bombing my inbox with "personal discounts" I knew they were struggling, and I do feel sympathy for the company that fights DRM. But I stopped buying from them a long time ago because I don't want to be a second-class citizen. They provide a lot of services to Windows and OSX users, including friend servers, auto-updates, cloud sync, and achievements. Not to mention a good library for games even outside of GOG. But the best I can hope for is a downloadable .sh installer with nothing. It's very hard to justify paying for this kind of service, especially when a much smaller itch.io managed to provide me with first-class support, even with Wine.

There should be no need for the "old game" argument. AFAIK the repo contained nothing owned or copyrighted by Take-Two, the reverse-engineering effort is clean room, I'll be surprised if there's not precedent set for this exact court case.

Heads up to anyone playing this - due to the engine limitation your save files are not going to work if the game updates. Read this pinned discussion [External Link] on Steam for more info. There is a beta branch for version 1.0 and the developer promised to have a brunch like this for every update, so you'll be able to keep playing. I didn't know about that and had to re-play the game after the first update.

Stellaris: Necroids Species Pack is out now

I really liked this extension so far!
Always wanted a Necron-esque additon to the universe, but what really upsets me is that the Necroids can't be a hivemind - that's really unfortunate, since playing as a parasite would be really cool.

Quoting: whizse
Quoting: NeoTheFoxAll rendering problems of Amnesia is solved by patch 1.0.4 for me on Mesa/AMD already. I also had to put this into the command:
MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=4.2COMPAT %command%
With this, it works without any issues, and I think I'm either halfway through or near the end right now.
No patch or update on GOG yet I'm sorry to say.

Do let us know if you're able to complete the game. My biggest fear* is a game breaking bug at the end of the game, fixed by a patch that breaks all previous saves.

* also spiders.
I just finished the game, and I haven't encountered any bugs on the way, so jump in if you so please!
