I'm not pinning my hopes and dreams on this, but if they make it I will play it.

Prepare to see a lot more of Epic Online Services, with Epic's new self-publishing

Quoting: lectrodeAs an avid RL player, I can tell you that the windows version through proton (or wine if you're playing it through the epic store) is not limited in any way.

FYI: RL at this point does not use Easy Anti-cheat, which is something I'm very happy about. One less thing to worry about potentially breaking the game for us Linux users.
To the first point, it's limited in the sense that they now require an epic account and to link that account to your steam account (though it can be a half-account, but that's a whole other mess)

To the second point, the writing is on the wall after all the uproar on reddit about bots and cheat-clients, though they are really slow to respond to such things in actual code, so you probably have at least 2 more months of playing before anything is implemented (if it is, but I think that seems likely at this point).

It mentions X2 at the bottom of the list, having tried to play it on steam previously the biggest problem I encountered was missing audio and video due to weird codecs, not necessarily the 3d rendering. I hope it's on the list because it's fully playable without missing all the dialogue.

Quoting: CatKillerThey were all ported to Linux
How can we know this for sure? Is there actual evidence for this, or is it just implied, assumed, whispered about? Cause I've never seen any actual evidence of it, and definitely some indication to the contrary (there was something about borderlands3 I believe). Personally I just assume they were all mostly protoned. I'd be happy to be proven wrong, and for the results to end up on steam though.

I wonder how many games were actually ported to linux for stadia, and how many were simply protoning the windows version. It would be nice if the ones that were ported (if any) could be made available on steam. Gotta have some pipe dreams, amirite?

Pocket Wheels looks like a fun toy-car playground that will support Linux

Maybe they can make an arena-like map, and add a ball to bounce around, maybe add some goals at either end of the map, and call this mode pocket league? I'd be down for that (:

SteamOS for the Steam Deck gets slimmed down to 10GB

Quoting: Solitarythe question is what/why was it 24GB big before and how they managed to save 14GB.
A bit late to the party, but obviously it's because they removed emacs (:

I don't write anything to /usr, that belongs to the package manager, /usr/local is for me though. As for proton, I use proton 5.13 it looks like, and like I said I haven't had any problems yet.

Quoting: whizseGames installed in /usr too? That seems like a really bad idea
It's never seemed like a bad idea to me, that's where they belong =) All a mix of native, steam-native, and steam-proton, never had an issue except for these error messages from glorious eggroll, more like inglorious deflated egg to me :(

EDIT: I should mention that steam itself is installed in /usr/local/games/Steam, so if anyone has problems like that maybe they're trying to access /usr/local from a steam installed elsewhere? I dunno, either way, has worked fine for me for a looooong time =)
