Quoting: Doktor-MandrakeThis one in particular hits me in the nostalgic feels, I'm 34 this year and grew up playing these games on PC, fond memories of being sat next to my dad watching the warm glow of the crt.. and searching for topless lara on the dial up 😂So did you also play Destruction Derby back in the day? :)
I'm also from Derby so feel very proud of its heretidge, we have a road here called "lara croft way" in her honour 😊

Really wondering about the controls, because you have people who love, and people who hate tank controls.
This blog mentions Tomb Raider I-III Remastered will support both, with the modern controls taking inspiration from the Legend trilogy:

Turbo Overkill is a brutal FPS well worth your time

One of the best boomer shooters, if you can call it that. Graphics might be pixelated up close, but the environments are very detailed.
Unfortunately, the game was smoother on Windows than Linux for me.
Could not agree more on Liam's description. This is some Doom Eternal level shit.
Furthermore, playing on difficulty "Serve Me Pain" is easy in the beginning, but tough near the end.
Turbo Overkill was better than I expected. Better than Ghostrunner.

The explosive Ion Fury: Aftershock expansion is now available

Bought Ion Fury on 3D Realms back then (not Steam or GOG). However, they changed the website:
So, I'm not sure yet what the options are to buy Aftershock (seperately) this way.
Nevertheless, I wonder if we can get Aftershock working with a self-compiled eDuke32 or Raze.
As a temporary solution until the new site is fixed and ready to go, we will be publishing a Legacy 3D Realms site that will allow you access to your accounts, orders and information. So, I'm not sure yet what the options are to buy Aftershock (seperately) this way.

The Last of Us on Steam Deck is not great

+ Compiling shaders faster than Windows
+ Shorter loading times than Windows
- Shows only 8 VRAM in settings
- FPS 10 frames less than Windows
Windows 11:
+ Shows all 16 VRAM in settings
+ FPS 10 frames higher than Linux
- Compiling shaders way slower than Linux
- Longer loading times than Linux
Guess Linux and Windows score 2 versus 2. I even got the same out of date driver warning on Windows, so needed to update my one month old driver. My choice will be a Linux playthrough, obviously.

Quoting: Oet_AMD RX 6900 XT also shows 8GB of VRAM (and the mentioned out of date driver warning that can be ignored). The 70 FPS average seem a bit low, so gonna compare these issues with Windows 11.Arch Linux:

Quoting: headless_cyborgIt runs very well on my RX 6700 XT, however it only detects 8GB of VRAM (the GPU has 12GB) and that leads to slowdowns and texture pop-ins.AMD RX 6900 XT also shows 8GB of VRAM (and the mentioned out of date driver warning that can be ignored). Followed the steps of Building Ship of Harkinian [External Link], so no Discord.
Ultra-wide works out-of-the-box, but I needed to manually set some things like frames per second and select my controller.

The Force Engine for Star Wars Dark Forces improves Steam Deck & Linux support
17 Feb 2023 at 6:45 pm UTC
Glad midi support is improved, because that was the only thing I was struggling with before.
The SF2 sounds better, but OPL3 is how I remembered the music from back in the 90s.
The Force Engine however crashes when I switch back to System midi (during gameplay). Maybe because I have no configuration for System midi:

Quoting: Avehicle7887I'm ashamed to say that as a 90's kid I only had ever played the first level back in the dayYou and me both. Played a lot of first levels of games as a kid. We had a short attention span back then, like all children.

Classic 1990s series Catacomb lives on with the CatacombGL source port

The original DOS version was unplayable with that ridiculous low FOV. Luckily, CatacombGL allows you to configure a normal FOV.
Did full playthrough of all games during the pandemic. Back then CatacombGL already "felt" finished (except for the Linux support).
With other words, you don't need to wait for a 1.0 release. Go play the Catacombs now on Linux!
