Quoting: Stupendous ManYou and me both! I'm really missing a pause button in these games so that I can think and give orders at my leisure.
Haha, then it would be a turn-based strategy game and not a real-time strategy game :D

Arma 3 Public Linux Beta Soon, Being Used As An Evaluation
26 Aug 2015 at 5:18 pm UTC

Quoting: scaineI don't do beta or EA, but I really enjoyed Arma 2 pre-2013 when I still had Windows.

If they do it properly, I'll buy it. But not paying them to test their game for them. Just don't understand the concept of EA...
I was thinking of buying it, but you make a good point.

Unity Editor Lands An Experimental Build For Game Developers On Linux
26 Aug 2015 at 3:11 pm UTC

Quoting: BeamboomIt's cool and all to get the Unity editor, but let's not spread FUD here. The compiling process is as complicated as one line in the terminal to start the compile script, and has always compiled with no issues on my Ubuntu setup (an anecdotal argument, I know, but still).
It's not my intention to create FUD, the process for compiling is most definitely not a one liner! (grab dependencies, run setup.sh, GenerateProjectFiles, make Slateviewer, then make the final UE4) |

I made a short tutorial on my small blog, and I usually get e-mails from others regarding the process.

Quite a few are successful, and quite a few are not. I've been successful occasionally, and unsuccessfully occasionally and that is the current scenario with UE4.

It's an amazing engine visually no doubt, but healthy rivalry is a good thing. UE4 was ahead of Unity, now Unity seems to have jumped up front. It's good for all of us ^_^

This is awesome sauce! This also officially means the Unity team have one-uped the Unreal team. UE4 still doesn't have an installer for Linux right now, and the compiling process is very heavy and usually hit-or-miss for quite a number of folks.

I'm downloading this beauty right now :D

Risk of Rain & Crypt Of The Necrodancer Now On GOG For Linux
21 Aug 2015 at 12:09 pm UTC

Risk of rain is an awesome game! It's a shame GameMaker games have a strong tendency to crash on Linux. On Ubuntu, whenever my Arch buddy would connect to me or vice-versa, either one of us would crash. Playing a perma-death game where it crashes can really knock out the fun.

That said, still worth every penny. Gameplay is extremely addictive!

Looks like the proprietary Intel driver users aren't the only people who need educating. :(
It surprises me as well that there are those who think their Intel driver is proprietary. I wonder why they think that.

I'm also wondering if the change to the GNOME desktop isn't a choice, but due to an increase in SteamOS adoption? Since SteamOS's desktop mode uses GNOME. I could be entirely mistaken here.
