Excellent work from Rocksfish, they have a code of honour and made all their possible for the linux release and every other promises, they have top community manager and top devs. The game is just so beautifull I could sit for a few minutes enjoying the beauty of the universe depicted by their visions.

DRM free GOG + Linux + goodies , of course I love DRM free games! The most acceptable online selling practice.

Sorry but I'm not used on PC to have such jaggies.
Certainly cut scenes looks excellent, but the game itself does not.
Nvidia screenshots are reduced in size which make it look better than what it is. If you look at SSAAx4 vs no AA, you can see it has almost not effect, while it is supposed to increase resolution by X4.
Any AA used in the game works poorly as it's due to bad port from console to PC. SMAA is worst than FXAA, SSAAx2/x4 create blur instead of sharpness.
It's just sad as the game could have looked really excellent if it was to the level of the cutscenes.
Honestly DeadEndTHrills can make any game look a lot better than how it is in real condition. I mean not everyone has the hardware of Ben Salman's sons.
I don't understand how you can disagree on that, you have your own eyes to see.

I'm talking on technical aspect of the game, not about design or personal feeling.
You can't do nothing about it because it's in the way its shaders has been designed. It can't be improved by any sort of AA even with SSAA. It requires huge resolution to look decent, and even with 4K and ssaa x4 (equivalent of 16K) people complain about jaggies (it appears on every 3D and 2D sprites).
If you watch closely you should see texturing even in very high is nothing spectacular. It's not specific to linux version which looks the same as on windows.
this game shows the best graphics available on Linux, in all imaginable aspects, period. The game certainly does not shows the best graphic on linux (Even if the cutscenes gives this illusion)

Hitman, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Metro Last Light, and even Mad Max looks better than RoTR.
It's way too pixelated, and any "correct" antialiasing requires way too much ressource, and has almost no effect. If you look where the game tries to make you not look at, you should quickly realise textures are poor. If you put the camera only a little away from lara's face, you can see how much pixelated it is (even with smaax4 and texture in very high).
Water and vegetation looks blurry.
Most of technique used by Crystal Dynamics are lighting techniques which looks shiny but hide those defaults and are completely non realistic.
The game tries to look good, but it definitely does not looks good. It plays with camera angle or cut scene to give illusion of nice graphics, but it can't be compared to some older titles with nice graphics.

It's the only feral game I've noticed this weird v-sync issue (Hitman was playing with no stutter at 30fps). I think I would have played without v-sync if I liked the game.

It works just the same on IPS panels, and you can find the setting by clicking "Advanced..." under X Server Display Configuration. Thanks tuubi, I have checked, but the option does not appear on my setup.

I think composition pipeline is no more available on nvidia-settings (at least on my setup), you have to tweak the X configuration manually which I'm not familiar with, as I don't know what it could do in case of updates.
I also use an IPS panel so without v-sync tearing is too obvious in any game, I don't know if composition pipeline will work in my case.
Thanks anyway I 'll keep that info in a text file in case I encounter it in a future title.

Well I'm impressed by feral work on this port.
Other than that I'm quite disappointed by the game itself.
Technical issues encountered:
-Vsync works very strangely and screw up the game even more than without it. It only sync to 30fps or 45 fps in my case, while it runs above 60fps all the time without it, but with a lot of screen tearing.
-Graphically it's deceiving, without SMAA it's really too much of a pixel poridge.
The game itself:
Well I hated the QTE event from the previous episode, and in this one it's even more annoying as it start straight away. It's not fun whatsoever as you don't have to think or observe anything, everything is way too obvious and as a result there is no pleasure to do anything. Every little action, animation and discussion makes no sense, seems out of place and foreseeable by miles away. I gave up the game after 5minutes as it was like a nightmare for me, every bad stuff from the TR2013 is amplified here.
It's just my personnal opinion, but I grew up with Tomb Raider, and this game is definitely not my cup of tea.
I'm a bit sad because other than that Feral did really good job on this port.
Well... back to Ruiner.

Feral Interactive have released an open source tool that’ll help get the most performance out of Linux games

The problem of windows 10, is that you have to close way more process than previous windows version, as you have all the apps running in the background and that you can't uninstall it definitly whatever tricks you use. Windows 10 has way more stuff to do manually to get your game optimised than linux has nowadays IMO.
I agree with the technical aspect of your argumentation towards CPU scheduler. And as you said it's a small tool but it works as intended and has good results.

On high end desktops with a large amount of CPU threads available, Game Mode wont help much if at all.Well loosing 10% perf is not what is expected for a game mode especially on high end desktop. All the DX12 possible gain can only happen on modern hardware supporting the API anyway. So game mode will more concern people owning a HP or ACER small budget tower filled up with bloatware than is almost unusable straight after purchase, and even in that case gamemode of microsoft won't do much.
