I also prefer DRM free games in general. I think it is the best for consumers. It is quite similar to owning a DVD, or music CD, which you can carry anywhere, and copy for yourself to avoid damaging the CD. You can also lend it to someone. For me the GOG way is what suit the best what you do in reality with objects that you purchase.
Nontheless, for now Feral can not cover the cost of doing so. Even releassing a game on steam with all the advantages of it is not always worthy to cover the salary of their engineers. For instance they could not release F1 2016, probably because F2015 was not viable financially.
For them, choosing the game must be quite a bargain, because the game has to please the community as much as possible, but also to sell enough to pay the porter a wage.
Don't forget that they port a game with a team that is often 100 time smaller than the big editors. It is huge lot of work, and honestly the work is of incredible quality.
In France we have a saying which says: "Little by little, the bird makes its nest" and I think that is exactly what Feral Interactive is trying to do, and the best they can. So for now, indeed the situation is not perfect, we have to get our community growing in order for them to later be able to reach the DRM goal.
It's a personnal explanation, but I'm quite confident they are linux lovers as we all are here., and that they probably agree with what the majority of us think of DRM-free games.

From most of the devs I have tried to reach through steam forums, some answer that they simply don't pull games on gog because it's more complicated to do so.
So I guess it has a cost to do it. No matter how good feral ports are, it is still a little structure working on a niche market, for now we'll have to wait and see, hoping that the linux gaming commmunity keeps growing.
I'm quite confident they would like to distribute the game on gog, but maybe they would also like to be able to do it in their own store, obviously it seems complicated to do so.

Excellent, the last 1.7x update completly broke the performance on linux, it's an excellent news! I questionned them earlier about a switch to vulkan, not only they did it, and the perfs are so much better.
Thanks a lot liam for this news, and also gaijin for not letting down tux gaming.
With vulkan and new multi core cpus, the future of gaming will explode in the next year once the devs will fully manage all those news technologies.
By year 2023 if you look at the flatpak initiatives, a distribution like linux mint should be a perfect substitute for windows 10. This distro among others is already doing things pretty well for new comers and even for busy people who have not much time to setup their OS and its environment.

Want to play Track Mania Nations Forever on Linux using Wine? There's a snap for that

Nice, if it can make it simpler. Does the snap include like a wrapped version of wine withing the snap?
Otherwise the game works perfectly if you have wine installed. I just have a little glitch on the launching menu when it pops up. But hovering the mouse on it make the options appears.
It is still a great game after all these years and it still looks quite good if you max out the graphic settings.

Having a third actor is never bad, but the thing is that they already are leaders in the CPU Market... They kind of stole Raja Koduri from AMD, and now they taking Jim Keller, which is the guy behind all the improvment done by Tesla, Zen architecture for AMD, and also many improvment for Apple.
So I'm pretty scare by Intel to be honest. They also bought McAfee which was a crap antivirus, and they transformed it in a spyware tool which is even worse at detective any threat... In one way it could be a good thing if they do the same with GPU, but I really don't think it will be bad.
Unfortunately for AMD or Nvidia and in the end all PC gamer. Because if everyone buy Intel GPU, which could also in the future integrate those chips inside the CPU, in this case they will end up as a total monopoly.

Performancewise, Rise of Tomb Raider was an exceptionnal port, but this one seems to really be the best one ever made by feral.

What we can expect:
A major title or close to triple A.
Will be released on a thursday mid-day or evening.
Port will surely be awesome.
Could be Dark Soul 3 or Shadow of Tomb Raider, but also total war warhammer 2. I would be pleasently surprised if it was something different from Creative Assembly or Square Enix. (unless we have nier automata :p)
