There must be something with Liam's setup or some regression, or it's on phoronix side who have too much perf?

The game performs better than on windows if we take those two benchmarks. Can those difference be explained by the CPU side? Does Vulkan perf benefits more from the cpu than dx11?

I also enjoyed it a lot.A few time there are some action sequence that were a bit annoying, but it's the rest is top notch.
I had to tweak the graphic options to get good experience. I took the highest preset available with vsync enabled. In the advanced tab I turned shadows, light effect and sss quality in medium. It looks better than maxed out on my pc, and I have no stutter despite some 30fps drop. (Using GTX970 with 384.90 and a I7-2600 on Mint 18.2 @1920x1200p)

Honestly I've been through hundreds if not thousands of reviews on steam, and never it rarely helped me to decide myself for a game. (I'm not blaming anyone for expressing themselves or trying to be informative, and there must surely be some good amateur reviews, prabably a lot better than what mainstream press can produce)
On the other hand I have been reading PC magazines since I was 10 years old to 25/26 years old (until the best reviewers vanished after their journal got bought by big publishers).
One was called "joystick" in my country, among many other that were good but not as good, but still quite good if you compare with todays reviews.... And out of the probably 5 000 game demos I have played, and the hundreds of game I owned, "NEVER", I repeat "NEVER" have I been disappointed, and I will repeat also this one "EVERYTIME", I repeat EVERYTIME they were saying this game is bad, and still I wanted it, EVERYTIME I got disappointed. And that's journalism. That's mainly why I'm browsing GOL on a daily basis. Certainly the articles are not as much in depth, and with the quantity of work Liam can produce, we can't ask him to be the Shakespear of reviewing, but come on... In about 5/10 minutes I can know whether I will like a game or not, with a good summary and understanding of what the game will be like, where I can spend hours in steam in vain to desperately find an objective review.
Yes Journalist is a real job, but it tends to disappear as apparently press group does not like the truth being told with honesty and style.
Sure I'm talking about dead men, because objective press has almost vanished, or the prices have raised and with less quantity. Purple Library Guy is right at some point, because all the real journalists have been sold to big press group which have destroyed PC journalism, therefore, yes one could argue anyone's opinion is as worthy as these pieces of crap papers.
I think I really miss the old time of demos and passionate/talented paper press...

I've heard and read many positives stuff about this game, and I have to admit that the sole Blade Runner aspect of one of the trailer got me hooked^^
Looking forward to this original title! Will be an instabuy for me.

I agree with every points mentioned by Liam.
It's been quite a long time that I dislike IGN way of testing game and spamming news. They sound pretty much like bad advertising against big cash and without any journalist skills... I really wonder what is the point of this. As IGN looks right now I kind of think that they completely scammed humble store...
It's important to stand against this and to be honest I was pleasantly surprised by your awareness towards this acquisition.

Review bombing can be bad for some devs but it is also a democratic tool for dev who try to screw their consumers. For instance GTAV was being moded and became 10 times more popular online than it used to before those mods. And then Rockstar decided to ban online mods. Until they got review bombed and then allow again online mods.
On the other hand a popular youtuber who did not like a type of game because it is not his kind of game and says bad thing about the game, it can influence badly viewers opinion and the overall review of the game.
IMO I don't care about reviews, and just give an eye to it, to see how far the reviews are wrong as regard to the game.
Very often you can see some game with bad review which are all time top games. And sometime you can see some stupid japanese anime with girl with big boobs, very bad story... having 99% of positive review...
So really people should not look much to users reviews as they are not much significant.
It's better to read real journalist reviews, which become very rare as big publishers buys the reviewers final score.
I have generally far better understanding of whether a game would suit me or not while reading some articles on gamingonlinux than 100 user reviews.

I love this game too. Every run is different, the spaceships inertia and their equipment are also pretty fun to play. The graphics being excellent, I think you should not hesitate for this one, especially as it is drm free and one of the first good linux port done with the UE4 engine.
Among one of my run. I was about to finish it quickly and successfully. Everything was ready for the final sector (materials, weapons, fuel, consumables, all top quality :p). The only element I was missing to get fully stacked was just 4 nanobots. I was trying to check the map a last time, until the radar found a pack of 4! This run went so well, I thought I was out of danger and foolishly rushed at it with all my boosts. I was not even listening to the AI and did not even checked the distance. That was until my ship started to fall appart as the nanobots were still far away outside the map. It was too late to come back and I just died with tons of equipment wasted on a "too easy" run^^

These devs are great. They showed a lot of communication with our small community. They provided many patches and features based on what the player wanted (VR, joystick support...) And overall the unofficial version is working flawlessly. They've been concerned with reaching their promises which many big studios have broken in the past.
I'm very happy to play this DRM Free game on linux.
