The Steam Link Android app is now out, works quite well so far
17 May 2018 at 9:00 pm UTC

Quoting: dRaiserIndeed Steam Link App seems to work very well.

Multimonitor woes with stream streaming are nothing new unfortunately - I've resorted for script which disable my 2 of 3 monitors when I want to stream [to my other PCs or Steam Link hardware as well]. Don't like it, but what will you do.

As for Android streaming itself, I've checked it on my Nvidia Shield K1 Tablet with FHD resolution - I thought it'd be perfect for games like Stellaris or Shadowrun, but darn UI is too small! Will probably try with streaming 720p instead of FHD.
I think this won't be suitable for strategy or FPS titles.

But that will be good for racing games like Dirt Rally or games like Darkest Dungeon , Shadow of Mordor , Tomb Raider etc.

The Linux version of squad based Roguelike 'Steam Marines' has nearly become profitable

What's even more interesting, is that with Steam's current market share for Linux being at 0.55% it seems that it's actually doing quite well.
If we would overflowing with AAA's like Windows , i think that wouldn't be the same

Quoting: KallestofelesThe developer behind DXVK probably has a ton of great job offers in his mailbox already I imagine. :P ^_^
im quite sure he is already hired, if not he is just insane :) working 24/7 on it. commits every day, active in the github issues and in discord. Can't be that he is doing this all just for fun :)
Or he is just a hobbyist , with has lot of money to live without worrying about next day and doing it for fun really :P

Lol , i know it is nearly impossible but not entirely :P

The developer of Crazy Justice has shown off a quick teaser of it on Ubuntu

Quoting: LeflI can't really see how this is going to be somewhat successfull.
From the Teaser it almost exactly looks like Fortnite.

Im not expecting it to take over Fortnite or PUBG, but I don't think a lot of people will play it
given that they want to sell it for 25$ (~20€).
The same can be said for any game that's similar to any other. I highly doubt they're going in expecting the level of success of Fortnite.

Do remember we're a Linux site, we don't have anything like Fortnite and it probably never will come to Linux. For us, Crazy Justice is a safe bet.
Look at his profile. He is using Windows too and his comparisons will be Windows based , not Linux.

Quoting: skyrrd@Leopard i took thqt information from information and discussion on youtube-videos. Didn't have the chance to test myself and will not. I just recently ditched my windows vm and am not eager to buy a new title for testing purpose.
Yep , i agree with you. To me ; buying a title in order to run it with Wine is pointless. Because i don't want to put money for unguarenteed compability on a test bed.

Quoting: skyrrdFrom what i have read the rendering of far cry 5 does work rather well, but it's the drm that is blocking right now.

Correct me if i'm wrong but without removal of copy protection/drm its not possible to play far cry 5 with wine and dxvk atm.
Don't know how people tried FC5 on DXVK then , maybe they used cracked versions to see how it performs. You can try if you want.

Thanks for the answers. I will try DXVK for Skyrim SE because Legendary Edition on Wine Staging has some flickering issues on textures and shadows.

Is there a simple guide for setting this up on Ubuntu based distros?

And also one question too ; is it confilicting or affecting existing Wine Staging setup or is it build upon it but have completely different prefixes , environment etc?

The Steam Hardware Survey had some flaw causing cyber cafes to be over-counting users
4 May 2018 at 8:16 am UTC

3.5 years single boot Linux user. Last survey on Linux was nearly 2 years ago.

However , when i put Windows 10 i got survey after installing Steam.

Wine ; when i install Steam on Wine i got survey.

Something really skewed was going on survey. We told many times but answer was always the same.

Rise of the Tomb Raider has a new opt-in beta to help with NVIDIA issues
1 May 2018 at 10:45 am UTC Likes: 2

Quoting: fabertaweJust bought this a few days ago from the Feral Store and I'm loving it (as I knew I would!). Using the 390.48 driver as per the Arch repos with a GTX970 (1080p) and it's been super smooth on high settings (roughly between 60 - 80 fps). Some of the cut scenes were not as smooth as they could be however.

Is the beta opt-in a full download again? I'll try it if not.
No , it only downloads a small amount of data. Not the whole game.
