I'll bet you a pancake it had something to do with MASSIVE and Deck. Because some people attribute divine abilities to AI, it is often hard to underestimate it in practice. And the team is probably not really a team.

They clearly and consequently state userspace.

Here is his full speech (+/- 6 minutes), including rant on glibc. It's eight years old now.

At 10:50, he mentions Valve directly:

It's so sad that this doesn't change.

Win32 Is NOT The Only Stable ABI on Linux. The kernel ABI itself is also stable. Not least thanks to Linus Torvalds. There is a now legendary email from Linus about this (caution, harsh tone):

Unfortunately, the rule "WE DO NOT BREAK USERSPACE!" is often not applied in userspace itself, even when it comes to system libraries. I always find it most tiresome when people insist on their changes even though countless regressions have already occurred.

Quoting: JoshuaAshtonThis isn't a Steam Deck bug, it happens on Desktop too. There's a GPU synchronisation issue that happens going between vertical screens in some areas.
But it only occurs with Vulkan, right?

Quoting: itscalledrealityI’m just being tongue in cheek. Valve’s goal is of course to sell as many of these as possible. It just usually takes a product generation or so before less technical people will comfortably not complain.
It is a PC. If you can't tell the difference in games, you can't appreciate it. The Steam Deck is clearly aimed at PC users and they are used to suffering. Even with Windows. :)

If you come from PC, the Steam Deck is already a huge relief.

My second deck, reserved a few weeks ago, has now moved from after Q3 to definitely Q4.

Pleasant, since it will be a Christmas gift. :)
