Steam Deck Beta adds way to view components, Valve confirms fan changes
22 Oct 2022 at 11:00 pm UTC

Quoting: RavenWings@Termy & 1xok: Would be very interresting to know if they updated to a newer Delta without the whine. Valve should communicate much more openly about this topic. Whenever friends asked me if I can recommend the Deck, I always had to be honest that I don´t know if there still is a risk of getting a whiny fan.
I hope we´ll see some testing with the new foam solution soon.
I just put a new Deck (came already a month ago) into operation. It has the Huaying fan. But unfortunately the triggers are a bit spongy, as they probably rub against the backplate. On reddit they say Valve considers this a cosmetic issue. It may eventually resolve itself through abrasion.

I have received three Steam Decks so far. The first had a trigger that visibly rubbed against the housing, plus the Delta Fan. I RMAed it. The second (replacement unit) actually has no defects at all, plus the Huaying fan. And the third now, see above.

So more can go wrong. :/

EDIT:
Interestingly, Valve also shows me the hardware for the Deck I RMAed. This Deck had different components, not only the Delta Fan. I did not know for sure until today that it was really the Delta Fan. But my ears had not deceived. ;)
One more point: I don't see any info about the triggers and some other components for my Decks either. The Deck that came first is also missing the info about the trackpads.

Quoting: RavenWingsI´m a bit shocked they are still shipping Steam Decks with Delta fans... and I really hope this change will fix the noise for future buyers.
Maybe the problem is fixed on newer Delta fans?

Minecraft on Steam Deck Guide with Prism Launcher (and gamepad support)

I still use MultiMC. I think Prism is derived from it. What makes it better?

I haven't dealt with it much. In fact, most of the time I just use the Minecraft default launcher from Mojang. But in MultiMC the management of mods is easier.

If you use PolyMC for Minecraft you should switch away now

There was a similar problem with the game Domina some time ago. Steam even had to remove the game from their library in the end. And then there is Notch ...

What I don't like about JSAUX's solution is that it partially covers the vents.

I think an AC system that is not operating system agnostic is doomed to failure from the start. You can already do so much with image recognition that the cheat can also run on a smartphone that films the screen and controls the input via bluetooth. I wouldn't be surprised if there are already ready-made apps for this.

Canadian customers seeing a temporary delay for the Steam Deck

Quoting: F.UltraBtw the whole toilet paper thing turned out to be mostly not a thing.
In Germany, it was definitely a thing. Has tradition here. In France people hoard wine and condoms, in Germany toilet paper.
