He/she doesn't seem to be defending asset flips. Seems more like they are saying "I'd rather live with shovelware than censorship."

And remember: This is about content, and they do point out that titles that are "trolling" and/or "illegal" will get deleted. I doubt asset flips and shovelware manages to dodge those points.

Yes, exactly what I meant. I don't usually select games on Steam, but rather watch my favorite YouTubers playing random games and then if something looks interesting I look for user reviews (since GamerGame never big corrupt game media again) and reviews from more trusted YouTubers (I already miss Total Biscuit).

I am not a Steam fanboy, I have complained about their Linux client for a long time for being totally useless garbage in HiDPI environment (letters like 1mm, literally head of a pin). I disagree with their decision to limit APIs so now it's impossible to get nice statistics. I also think Valve should do more for Linux, but I understand that it might not be financially too much interesting, at least for now (reading recent article about devs and their opinion on Linux support was quite depressing). But I admit, I see Valve as one of those better companies, way above Google, Facebook or Microsoft.

You wrote that GOG is great, I responded that the price for having mainly good games is also missing some great games, even those best in its genre (e.g. puzzles from Zachtronics were initially rejected without any clarification, I really wonder what rule/standard they could fail, since they are obviously not trivial asset-flips).

As an other commenter mentioned, I think it's unreasonable to expect Valve to filter games for everyone's individual tastes and political viewpoints. I don't agree with censorship and my opinion is, that only a game (or any other medium) literally exciting violence in concrete context (e.g. "kill the man A today around 12" ) should be illegal and censored/removed from distribution platform like Steam. That's the sane definition of hate speech, not the nonsense we see in UK (obvious joke, even by judge's admission, is found guilty of "hate speech" ) and to my surprise even US is starting to head in same direction. But I agree Steam should continue improving their filtering capabilities, I find it still quite limiting and that's probably the reason I am not browsing Steam for games I could buy. When I find a game I want to buy (from other sources), I first check GOG (I dislike DRM, as probably many others here; what a Steam fanboy I am...), then Steam and then search for official site.

GOG is far from perfect (BTW do they have finally a Linux client?). I saw several legitimate (even rewarded) games, best in their genre, to be reject without giving any explanation. I would rather have more freedom for me to choose, than having some (many) choices being denied because of arbitrary randomly applied rules.

I mean, look at Mojang. Microsoft acquired them back in 2014 and has anything actually changed—no. The Java edition of Mojang is still full steam ahead and works fine on Linux as always. I heard only recently they took on more staff, one of which said they would be specifically taking a look at getting their new launcher officially supported on Linux (I can't back that up right now, because I'm a moron and didn't copy it down at the time).
IIRC they said that the Java version (from Mojang) is gonna die and be replaced by their MS monetized C++ "better" version (essentially killing all those remarkable Java-based mods). I read that community quite hates MS team (which resides in other continent that Mojang) and don't really want to have anything with them. I stopped developing Minecraft mods partly because of MS. I don't really want to support them (e.g. paid skins in MS version, original Minecraft has free custom skins from beginning).

I would not count Minecraft being a M$ success. They only haven't killed it just yet.

I think you are right. I myself am thinking about developing small game in Unity in Linux. I was looking at other engines, but Unity beats them all (at least from my perspective) in platform support (e.g. Switch) and community size (tons of tutorials, videos, examples). I wish Linux editor was officially supported, but last beta seemed to work quite well (only minor issues with easy workarounds). Not a big fan of C#, compared to Scala or Haskell it's nothing stellar and reminds me Java a bit too much for my taste (boilerplate everywhere), but it seems to be usable enough.

As someone said, it doesn't work well with Azerty keyboards, but i don't know yours. You can try to remap the keys on the game launcher, there is a "Graphics" tab and an "Input" one. I tried on mine but still doesn't work (I'm on Azerty layout).

But there is a workaround, type this in a terminal : "setxkbmap us" to change your layout on Qwerty and now you can use the 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. To reset at normal, I type this : "setxkbmap fr".

Edit: But for the doubled letter issue, I don't know, I don't have this one...
Thanks for tips, tried both and neither changed anything :-/. Still can't use skills. The performance is really not good - I have a solid mid-range gaming PC (i5, 1070) and I guess the FPS is in single digits even without anti-aliasing. Maybe 4k resolution issue? So I am definitely not even considering backing this. One thing is not being polished or a bit more demanding, but not working keys and very bad performance even with not that great graphics, I just don't want to bet on such high risk.

I own Switch, but this looks so good. Only downside I can tell is the price :(. I guess even for people from rich countries, like US, it's quite pricey.

And a second issue, using skills doesn't seem to work for me - I press a key 1, nothing happens, tried even shift+1 and still nothing (shift+1 is character 1 on my layout). Any ideas?

From what I read, it is not financially viable to rent too many servers for initial influx of players. I don't like it, but when this are writing big companies (I think in this case it was Blizzard) then it's logical small studios can't handle it much better.

Watched some review and it's undoubtedly "pay to win" - there are items in cash shop with stats. Definitely not going to try it.

I don't mind the old school look (heck, I love Minecraft, played that for hundreds of hours, even wrote few mods), but 20euro for a gamble I'll love gameplay is too much for me. Just compare it to other games - Ark was recently for 23euro and it's a AAA-like game (has its issues, but is great looking, 3D, tons of content - long progression, many dinosaurs, lovely map, multiplayer); Overwatch is now for 20euro and it is an AAA game - piles of content, everything 3D, very polished, game being actively developed for over a year and still getting regularly new heroes, maps and events.

And to be frank I don't trust indie devs much, I don't have very good experience with them "supporting" their games - Darkest dungeon is utterly broken for me (can't even get to the game from menu) and support is ignoring me for a year now (they responded only the first time that they are handing it to devs). Recently I have bough Spacechem and again, broken. I wrote to a support, but judging from unanswered questions on Steam to similar issues to mine I am very skeptical.
