Realistic racing game 'DRAG' coming to Linux soon, built on Linux and it looks astonishing

Enough precious time and space has already been wasted on that subject, I'll leave it here.

Quoting: Avehicle7887There's no need to be rude just because someone doesn't like Steam, this topic has been debated for years and it's simply a matter of one's perspective.Yes, absolutely. This applies both ways though. There is really no need to continuously give the developers (and other readers here) a bad feeling about their choice of distribution. Give these two developers the time to concentrate at the core things there are good at, Steam is very valid choice to outsource the stuff around.

Quoting: tuubiI don't take it for granted. But I do see all obstacles developers and publishers have faced in the past slowly crumbling away, thanks to a whole bunch of companies and organisations working towards this rather recent goal of making Linux an awesome gaming platform.Yes, this is certainly valid. So lets conclude that we will most likely face a dip in the upcoming year(s) regarding big titles, but looking at the long term Linux should rise (again) and shine :).

It is just the feeling that the trend with regular big names from Aspyr and Feral from the past years is slightly turning and nothing has come up to compensate for that. Next to that I guess also the realization on my side that the Linux community is a rather difficult diva to deal with for companies like these both.
Anyway, lets see what happens this year :)

Quoting: burningserenityWhat is HITMAN considered now that I/O is sans publisher? If they release chapter 2 for Linux this year, I'll be happy with whatever else does or doesn't happen.Yes, sure, this would make my year too (together with Rise of the Tomb Raider, if it really comes to Linux). I didn't wanted to paint a black and white picture with my statements. Certainly there are very cool titles from independent developers and a lot of titles with a big budget are rather crap (Loot boxes indeed). I'm also not worried that I will get out of games either (also due to limited time).

Well yes, I would say that I'm a cautious kind of person, first see and then believe ;)

Quoting: tuubiWhere you see a dramatic fall, I see a slow climb. Maybe we're looking at different timescales? Or maybe you're just a glass-half-empty kind of guy.Different timescale and different kinds of titles... Sure, including indie and smaller titles it seems that the number of new titles is rising. Which is very cool! What I fear though, is that the number of big titles is declining to really just very very few per year.

Quoting: Perkeleen_VittupääThimbleweed Park got several votes from here! Mr. Gilbert please, moar!!Loved it too, except for the last 5% of the games. I backed it originally, had a lot of fun playing the first 95% but was horribly disappointed by the very cheap way the story ends. Men, such a shame..

It feels for me currently more like tear down instead of build up. Sorry.

Quoting: liamdaweI get it, we don't get a lot of AAA titles, but what's with all the negativity from people lately? Unless you had crazy wild expectations - we all knew this would take a long time to build up.I guess people, me including, are getting anxious that we had our peak with the big titles and are now moving back straight to the dark ages. I get it, indie and AA games are certainly entertaining. But there is nearly nothing left regarding titles that you proudly present to your best friends to show how cool Linux has become if Feral decides to leave Linux completely in favor of iOS.

The “Fall 2017” update for Civilization VI has finally made it to Linux

That said, I bought CIV VI when it came out for Linux and are thankful and very happy that the extension has finally landed.

Quoting: TheSHEEEPSeriously, how messed up can your production pipeline be if an extension takes considerable work per platform?I'm pretty sure this is not a matter of technical difficulties but of priorities. My impression is that the Linux port was more of a favor for the Linux community than anything else, remember that it wasn't planned at all. They wont earn much money with the Linux version, surely considering reaction here. Chances are much better on iOS. I love Linux with all my heart but I can fully understand that Aspire shift their priorities to a platform with a slightly less demanding community and much more volume.

Quoting: KimyrielleI really, really think dev studios need to be more drastic and flat out refuse to even look at support requests for distros other than Ubuntu and maybe SteamOS, to keep these costs down. Because this issue seems to be holding us back.Yes, this would be my advice too. But unfortunately (part of) the Linux community can be very vocal when a gaming studio or publisher does not support a certain pet project or ideology. I guess preventing shit storms can be reason too to stay away from Linux.
