QuoteDraw signs to cast spells - Unique spell-casting mechanic where you prepare spells by drawing spell signs with your wand by controlling your mouse/joystick.

Idk why though many games keep calling this mechanic unique. I have first seen it in Arx Fatalis (2002).

The original Black&White from the late 90s had a similar feature as well (not saying it was the first, that I don't know). But as @dron1885 wrote, it's hard to implement in a nice way. Most often it's cool at first but becomes very clunky in actual gameplay.

Valheim has become the next survival game hit on Steam

Quoting: drlambThis is the polar opposite of what I've experienced and/or heard from those playing the game. It's easily the most polished early access game I've ever seen in my life. This E.A. release puts most game's regular releases to shame.

I can't say much about how it plays, but I found the looks and especially the UI (fonts, spacing, etc.) very early stages. The developer probably wants to iron out the gameplay first, but for me that is reason enough to wait some more months before checking it out seriously. I've actually had this game on my Steam wishlist since mid 2020, because it seems very intriguing and it is definitely not out of the world for me.

Edit: Another point that is not too serious, but to me usually a reason to sit back a little and observe, is the current hype around the game.

I watched a stream some days ago and found the game to look fairly unpolished, just very early-accessy. Too much so for my liking, might look into it again later this year.

Actually bought the title after this article, but haven't been able to play yet. Would be kind of interesting to see if and how much impact GOL articles have on Linux numbers, especially when it's something positive like this one here. It's at least not a rare sight to see people post messages such as mine under similar articles.

This is one of these games that I find fascinating but cannot play for more than an hour. Will probably get it on a sale just for the sake of it.

On the whole GOG matter, that doesn't surprise me. I was for a long time a big proponent of DRM-free games, my library on GOG is 150+ games (mostly from 5+ years ago when Windows was still my gaming driver). But the work that Valve puts into the ecosystem made me buy more games on Steam over the years (nowhere close to GOG, only around 15 at the moment, lots of proton-enabled ones). Combine that with the uninspiring attitude of GOG towards Linux and the overall worse support from developers (updates on GOG come later or never, some features aren't enabled, games not hitting GOG at all), making GOG a tough choice in my opinion.

Another point I could see is DRM-free on Linux being a small niche, which might coincide with the "don't buy early access" crowd.

Our top favourite Linux games released in 2020
27 December 2020 at 5:39 pm UTC

I only played three games seriously this year, though whether they count as 2020 releases is a matter of opinion.

By far the most time (and money) I sank into Warframe, runs great in Lutris.

The two games I bought were Children of Morta, which got a Linux release this year, and Hades that left early access this year and works great for me with Proton. While I'm incredibly bad at these kinds of games, I enjoy them a lot.
