Steam Play Proton 5.0-5 is out with updated OpenVR, Vulkan and fixes
21 March 2020 at 11:47 pm UTC

Quoting: BoldosWonder when Doom: Eternal PROTON fix will come :D

If it is anything like DOOM (2016), then we'll probably have to wait some weeks for the DRM to be cracked and hopefully id patching it out.

To be honest though, I don't know anything about the situation of the new title.

Does anyone know if it is possible to have AMD Freesync enabled while streaming/recording? The moment I add a new Window Capture source, Freesync is off.

The Wine 5.2 development release is out
17 February 2020 at 9:22 am UTC

Quoting: SirBubblesSo this wine version continues to show a persistent problem with Mass Effect Andromeda. It basically means that mouse input no longer works. I've found that there's nothing I can do about it aside from downgrade wine, and there's almost no information about this bug out in the world either. I've had no luck whatsoever doing anything about it, so I'd love to know: Does anyone else have any information about this issue?
I'm on Manjaro Stable, running wine-5.2 staging.

Having a similar problem with Warframe when running Proton-5.1-GE-1, mouse input is completely wonky: random mouse acceleration and mouse clicks not properly working (mostly noticeable when you continue shooting after clicking). This is with swaywm and XWayland though. Tried to find something on the issue but couldn't. Didn't have a lot of time to test plain X11 and different 5.x versions so I just downgraded to Proton-4.21-GE-1 for a short gaming session.

The developer of 'Limit Theory' is throwing in the towel, releasing the source code

Sad to see, was looking forward to the game since the Kickstarter.

Quoting: slaapliedjeIf it's going to be open sourced, there's always the possibility of people stepping in and releasing *something*. At least it isn't going to be one of those things where the source is lost forever, like so many commercial games.

As liam said in the article, let's hope for a nice libre license.

We’ve teamed up with GOG for the Ubuntu 18.04 release, we have some keys to give away

*buntu is not my cup of tea, but boy do I love DRM free games. 140 Games on GOG, 0 Games on Steam.

PS: On the off chance that my comment triggers a win, you can roll again, I'm not interested in the game. Just wanted to chime in that DRM free is best!

The rather silly and quite good 'Crashlands' is now officially on Linux

It is also 20% off on GOG atm. Just bought it.

Looks like GOG Galaxy won't come to Linux any time soon, as it's "not a priority"

GOG obviously isn't the brightest spot on the planet, but the alternatives aren't particularly brighter.

Only shop besides GOG that supports paysafecard atm is Steam. But their user experience is about as bad as it gets. The client forces multilib down your throat, there is no easy, at first sight way to discern DRM free and 64bit games (let alone a proper filter), and you cannot download from their web page but have to use `steamcmd`.

And games depending on some specific third party client is the same as shitty middleware everyone loves to complain about.

Edit: While looking up `steamcmd`, I found that even this command line tool requires multilib. Thus Steam is completely out of question for me.

Steam just keeps growing according to a presentation Valve did recently, UI update is coming

Quoting: ShmerlGaming is growing in general. For example GOG added Chinese section to their forums recently. And they show users growth every year as well.

One can guess from the increase in sales revenues, but are there actual numbers for users?

That's unlucky, the game looks pretty promising.
