A new Steam Client Beta adds Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) support to the Steam Controller

I've thrown out all my vortex SSD's as no matter what system, they will crap themselves and then get disconnected from the bus.
I've had this issue with high end servers, and with my desktop ARM several times.
The only really reliable SSD's are from intel and samsung.
There are stats about that (an nntp server farm using SSD's), and the Samsung Pro seems to be the most reliable.
Taking a step back (half the price), the EVO's are rock solid too.
The only upside of the Vortex is that the firmware upgrade can be done from linux, and their SSD rescue CD was just a linux distro.

Quoting: slaapliedjeThis was/is a hardware issue, and didn't have much in the way of how root accesses things or not. I have literally had the Windows drive do this to me many times. I'd be playing a game and it'd just hard lock, I'd reboot and the BIOS wouldn't even see the drive. I would have to do a full power off (even sometimes as far as flipping the hard switch on the PSU) before it'll be detected again. This was just the first time it's done it to me on Linux. Is it a Vortex?

I assume that if you log in as another person, it will take the settings of that person for that controller, or that if you use your controller as an add on with another user (multiplayer game), it will use your name as second player. Something like that. There obviously is more information stored about your controller and you than has been agreed upon according to the GPDR.

Quoting: buckysrevengeIt's not "completely wiped", it just is no longer paired. Once I paired my controllers, they had retained their personal settings (name, start up tune, etc.).Actually they are, but these settings are stored with your user profile.

To be clear: the vfat is not really a vfat, it is just a fake file system mapping to the real flash memory.
That's why you need dd, anything else might replace the file with a new file, which of course does not work.

Quoting: PatolaAnyway, the downgrade is also really easy. Plug in the steam controller in your pc, mount it as a vfat controller, *dd* the firmware image over the old "image".Quoting: liamdaweI just tested, works as expected with SC Controller.Thank you very much!!!!
Edit: To be clear, that's in normal mode :)

They just made a universal character creator. Women with beards for instance...

Quoting: zimplex1I can't in good conscience support this game; not with the forced diversity and the "they" issue. From a quick scan it seems they don't care about they or them.

The Steam Hardware Survey had some flaw causing cyber cafes to be over-counting users

But the stats are still flawed. There was an extreme rise in windows installations. The only thing they did was hussle the attribution of windows installation, not fix the incorrect total amount of windows installations.
It would only be correct if the total number of windows installations would have declined again.

I really have no clue how the survey is supposed to look, or if it just silently submits data.
I do find the "survey taken" dates in my files, but it never ever asked me for permission to send survey data. So I guess it is genuinly meant to run, except that it doesn't.

It's also interesting to note, that according to what Valve said, you're only supposed to be counted once a year,If I got it at all, it was when using cedega.

I am running 387.22-0+steamos17+bso2 on a zotac sn970 (gtx960).
I do switch to full performance before starting the game though...
But maybe the problem is with newer cards?

Quoting: buckysrevengeI'm still on the drivers that came in the latest SteamOS (387.something) and this beta resolved my main issue which was the cutscenes would grind the game to a halt. Thank you, Feral!I haven't seen any problem, except for an almost unnoticable error in some shaders.

Finally... I was already thinking I should make my profile private.
One thing that really bothers me is when people know when I am awake and playing games.
Really... If you want to talk to me, poke me. If I reply you are in luck.

So an application can now borrow the display (read VR headset) from X11, and have 0 copy communications with the GPU to update that display. With X11 or wayland or whatever out of the way, any VR application actually has the equivalent of direct access to the display buffer and refresh timing.
But this way, you can start your X11 server, borrow the drm and start wayland or another X11 server. Or start a master X11 server, and start a slave X11 per display for single-card-multi-seat setups.

Quoting: STiATIt may be that I didn't observe the Driver development too closely lately, but judging the lack of updates recently by valve on our mesa buglist I thought they're taking a different direction / Approach.AFAIK the heavy involvement of Valve in mesa and especially DRM (as the DRM patches are still coming along) are primarily for VR. If you didn't notice: Valve introduced a whole new infrastructure of borrowing the display/DRM from whichever applications is the master of DRM, which usually is the X11 server.
The push is clear: Vulkan. The issue is smaller Studios working with their own engines. The big Players (Crytek, Id, Epic, Croteam, Unity3D) will all head for Vulkan for the Linux Export target, that seems pretty clear by now.

Robocraft Royale could see Linux support if their release goes well

The term LMS predates the movie a lot though, as it was already a standard gameplay feature in unreal tournament... I reckon quake2 and quakeworld (the quake1 version) already featured it as a mod. And it took a long time before the movie became a cult hit.
So yes, LMS has been the long time term for LMS style games until PUBG called LMS battle royale as if it is a completely new gametype.
And yes, I am old. I am not be really lying if I put in 0 as my birth time(2), it would only be 32Ms off. That's way less than the average uptime of my systems.

Quoting: TheSHEEEPI've seen all battle royale movies. They rock.Quoting: ArdjeIf Battle Royale is the same as Last-Man-Standing, can we please call it LMS? I am too old for hypes.Last Man Standing is too sexist, I guess.
Battle Royale certainly isn't new, though.
The movie came out in 2000, and that is where the name comes from. At least that is what I assumed and what Wikipedia seems to confirm: Wikipedia link [External Link]
Video game adaptations of the battle royale survival concept became popular in the mid-2010s, with games such as Day Z, H1Z1: King of the Kill, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Fortnite. Then again, I don't know just how old you are ;)
