The biggest problem is that people allow untrusted third parties to run kernel level drivers on the same hardware that they are using for internet banking.
Clearly easy anticheat is a very dangerous backdoor in the already subpar protection of windows.
What I don't get is how something like easy anticheat can get it's stuff into the windows kernel. That means that microsoft is supporting them?

Stadia continues the slow downward spiral

If they could strike a deal with Valve, letting Steam users play their games throw Stadia (renting a game render server), I would actually use it. But it is yet another walled garden. And I don't see that any of the profits they make is returned into Linux.
So for me it's Valve Tax or contribute.

Nice, I bought it in beta. The graphics were very good. Nice watery graphics on linux.
I assume it is still good, but I wonder if I need to use native drivers or better use proton, as proton seems to work a lot better than native opengl these days.

dbrand are cooking up something big for the Steam Deck

Actually this doesn't look like the steam deck at all but like the ayaneo next, or something else.
The only thing that looks steamy is the pad and the words steam deck upside down.
From this picture, any steam deck goodness (grip etc.) and usability has been replaced with slickness.

Quoting: minkiuThe usb-c port is at the top, and the official dock seems to have a cable to plug it on top, thus this "case" would "allow" to have it upside down while still looking cool.I think that what is rendered as a button, is actually the USB-C port. The heat exhaust is at the top side, not the bottom.

So Epic actually uses the steam deck to force users to get an epic online account.
I think this shows why EAC is evil.
The question is: what can you do to get around this? Rewrite to another anti cheat?
My biggest question is always: why an anti cheat? What games are worth playing with an anti-cheat?
I mean people will still complain that you are using cheats. So why all this trouble for the end user?
EDIT:
I now read that log in is not needed for the new EAC. I think Valve has yet again helped us there.
Thank you Valve!

Still no laptop with AMD?
https://system76.com/laptops/pangolin [External Link]
Why do they say there is a limit on the size of the SSD?
You either support SATA and PCIe x4 or not.
Or does that have to do with booting? Because if so, they should just state it.

I recently discovered that they updated steamcontroller in such a way that you can steer and look around independently.
Steer with stick, mouse look with pad. It was very buggy switching menus. But if you don't switch menus and only drive it works very nice. I have tried an ETS2 kind of game at someones home with a PS3 and real racing gear, but they don't have free look around. I'd rather have the free look around than a pedal.
I hope that maybe one day the steering can be done with pad (sliding round like a steering wheel), and mouse look with gyro...
gyro on the steamdeck would almost be immersive, because you move the deck and you look left and right (at the steamdeck) to watch for crossing traffic.
With a lot of physical effort, you can move your deck around to look at mirrors at which point the mirror gets zoomed in, left, right, traffic light, etc... But I doubt any nerd can keep 600g in front of him like this for more than a few minutes. Actually we should do this... Our shoulders need exercise. Trust me. After almost 40 years behind a screen you get calcified tendons due to chronic inflammation and then you suddenly find yourself exercising in the gym, trying to pause the calcification.
Hmmm, the steamdeck doesn't have

1080p... Wow...
I play 4k with an RX580 eGPU @ a 2012 T430 thinkpad laptop connected with express card. (PCIe 2 1x).
I want a list of the games that are "playable" at 1080p with this card, so I know which games I will buy in 10 years.
