What's the game in the screenshot that the 'guest' has been making? :D

Red Eclipse: A Lightweight, Open-source, Highly-engaging FPS

Quoting: HoriThere are sooo many Quake clones out there... they are all almost identical.... out of all, I only liked and kept playing OpenArena.
And as someone else already mentioned: Open-source graphics are like 10 years behind
Except that this is NOT a Quake clone. The opposite, in fact -- it was in part borne out of a frustration of Quake's market dominance. This has no bunnyhops, is low gravity, and the movement physics are completely different to Quake. Finally, the weapons are largely inspired by Unreal Tournament. However, the parkour is wholly unique to Red Eclipse and is a key element of the game.

I'm biased as it's probably my all-time favourite shooter, together with Wolfenstein:Enemy Territory and Halo 3. But by any measure, Red Eclipse is not only not a Quake clone, it's not even Quake-like!

Wasteland 2: Director's Cut Has A Trailer, It's Exciting

Been thinking of playing this, do I need to have played the first Wasteland to get into this?

The Dying Light Linux Performance Patch Is Glorious, GOL Sneak Peek
15 May 2015 at 11:10 am UTC Likes: 1

Dunno why this game was trashed on so much, it's absolutely heaps of fun. Sure it takes itself too seriously, but it's one of the best co-op experiences there is.

And the gameplay? It's glorious. All you need to know is that you can dropkick basically any time you are mid-air. That is all. :)

Zowie Gear EC2-A Gaming Mouse: A Linux Gamer's Review, Initial Impressions And Early Performance

If someone wants a top-grade high end gaming mouse that's simple and doesn't have many buttons -- just like our poster, I strongly, strongly recommend the SteelSeries Rival [External Link]. It's heaven for those who have a palm grip.

Killing Floor 2 Will Sadly Not See A Same-day Linux Release
8 Apr 2015 at 11:34 am UTC Likes: 1

Quoting: SkullyI am unsure why the first game is regarded so highly by many. I have barely played it as left4dead2 just seems sooo much better in pretty much every way. Is there something I am missing???
I played way more Killing Floor than L4D2. I think the advantage of KF lies in that you can play without your friends and still have a lot of fun, whereas L4D2 really shines in multiplayer only when you have your friends around, or prepare for a lot of frustration. I also find the shooting a lot tighter and much more enjoyable in KF.

I'd also like to add that Valve's level design is an art in and of itself, but Killing Floor's levels are also genius in how they're laid out and how they let you have a breather and ramp up and ramp down the action (the respawn times are not fixed for each round).

I love both games, but I'd easily play KF over L4D2, which I don't have much of an incentive to click on these days unless my buddies are playing it.

I just hope KF2 isn't hopelessly broken under NVIDIA. :( Well, I'll still play it, just like I've played almost 40 hours of KF1, but I'd like a good port this time. :D

Just What Are Feral Interactive Teasing This Time?

Fascinating!

I think it's for Just Cause 2, because:
- the aesthetic. I've played the first Just Cause on the Xbox 360 and it reminded me of the aesthetic a lot.
- that some interest was shown about porting it to Linux in the past
- the upcoming Mad Max by the same company will (probably) have a day-one Linux release!

RUNNING WITH RIFLES Tactical Shooter Exits Early Access, It’s Bloody Good Fun
4 Apr 2015 at 10:15 pm UTC

This is a phenomenal game. I've been following Running With Rifles for years and have owned it for a long time. It's worth noting that there's a very good demo on its website [External Link].

RwR is indeed best described as a 'top-down Battlefield', minus the destructible environments. I recommend to any top-down shooter fan, bar none!

Trine 3 Announcement and Trailer Analysis

Wow, that art direction is PHENOMENAL. This game seems like a qualitative leap from the previous two judging by the trailers alone -- and that goes for both graphics and gameplay.

Of course, I am most excited about them finally getting to use their 3D game engine to its fullest. This will likely make many types of puzzle possible as well as acrobatics, as seen in the Zoya clip of the trailer.

The animation is particular seems much improved, and I see Pontius has several new moves up his alley. Hopefully combat won't be... overly easy and/or boring this time. :) But seriously, the combat was the only thing lacking in the last games. If that's fixed, it will be a near perfect puzzle-platformer experience.

All in all, I can't wait to go on this next adventure from Frozenbyte... for the fish stew!

Toki Tori: The Cheapest Game on Steam

Great vid! We really need more kids' games to be honest, I'm sick of just seeing different shades of grey in all the AAA games that come out (the real world doesn't look like that, nor do we need to imitate it!).

Just one inaccuracy I noticed. You said at one point that some aspects of it are not mobile-like, and mentioned the timer and the 4 or 5 stars that appear at the end of a level. Actually, this is a defining characteristic of many, many casual mobile games and goes well with their short levels that you can typically finish in about 5 minutes. It was pioneered by Angry Birds, which gives you a 3-star rating depending on how cleanly and efficiently (with as few birds as possible) you knocked down a structure. So that's very much mobile game inspired, if anything. I wouldn't be surprised if it came out on mobile said, as you mentioned.
