Valve have released some interesting statistics about controller use

Quoting: DuncI have to use alkaline batteries now. Mind you, the life seems to be excellent - still on my first set - but... grr.
Two years of daily use (and fairly intensive daily use ) I changed batteries every trimester or so.

Not that there is anything wrong with being a Fleming (although lately 2K and EA beg to differ ... ) but you know if one day you end up in my neck of the woods at the night in Lille's "street of thirst" you might come back home with more ethanol than blood in your bloodstream :P

Like Jim Sterling and others have often said everytime there is a trending genre every member of the industry tries to ape it in one way or another and you see everything popping up, from the fairly well done with truly unique ideas and yet still forgetable outsider , to the slap dashed half assed job that is just there to make a quick buck.

I don't know much about the game history I mostly know about it thanks to Liam's recent posts about it soo I'll hold my breath for now and see where it goes , but yeah I dunno I'm smelling a fish with this one and I don't like it .

Quoting: Purple Library GuySo the politics of identity (alone) is forced to be rather extreme as long as it can't address the problems of inequality, social atomization, and systematic insecurity which fuel the problems of prejudice. You have to treat symptoms a lot harder when you can't touch the cause or don't even know what it is. Not that treating symptoms is useless, but if someone is really serious about trans or racial or gay or women's issues, they should also back some variant of socialism (real socialism, as in workers owning the means of production, not whatever Bernie Sanders means when he says it), because people can't all be equal until people are all equal, and people can't truly come together until they are no longer being systematically divided.

There. Now everyone on all sides can be mad at me! ;)
makes a poor impresonnation of Master Yoda
A true Aurovilian in the making we found, Sharp is his mind. For the right reasons his FLOSS worries are.

Now on the other hand don't have too many episodes like this one or some of my fellow Northerners Frenchies will think you've been raised in Lille :P
(seriously that last paragraph felt like it flew right out of the mouth of a native of Lille like me, beware dude you're turning into a fleming. )

Linux hardware vendor System76 has begun teasing their new 'open-source computer'
29 Sep 2018 at 10:56 pm UTC Likes: 1

Quoting: GuestIt's so open source and free that it will cost you fortune to own. lol Seriously, while it's great that System 76 is a big Linux supporter I could build a pc that is top notch for far less than they charge for a decent laptopl
Pesky economies of scale if only there was a way to sway you ...

Sorry it's not an attack i'm just being facetious here. I know it sucks to have to be the ones that pay the brunt and the high price so that they can gain momentum enough to have lower prices but that's economies of scale for ya.

Total War: THREE KINGDOMS confirmed to be coming to Linux, port from Feral Interactive
29 Sep 2018 at 10:46 pm UTC Likes: 4

Quoting: Whitewolfe80Yeah they do deserve support however there business model is ports if they were crap at porting they wouldnt have a business model. Feral do good work if its a single player game and Feral ported it i know it will work however VP & Aspyr when they supported linux managed to include cross platform mp in a number of titles Feral to this date still havent managed it not sure whether that is a bi produce of their indirectx wrapper or if its a contract permissions thing.

But yeah I hope Feral stick around I know many on this forum seem to think that they will be around for years to come. But with Proton and steam play the question that most not all but most publishers will ask is why should i pay someone to licence and port our game. When i can do nothing not have to pay any fees and as a bonus, i do not have to offer support to linux and mac users that buy our game net loss to company 0 profit 100 percent.

What's more and am sure people will disagree with my points here but Feral seem to know it at well its why they keep hedging their bets with mobile ports of triple a games so even if mac and linux go away they will still have mobile. Maybe am wrong they have brought out games this year and seem to be busy and they are hiring
Well from the inside it looks a bit different than your worries let it transpire.

Some triple AAA bosses at the announcement of proton went :
"Sweet some more money down our pockets and we didn't have to do anything about it"
To which their employees that are developers answered :
"Oh yeah sure relying on a compatibility layer that is made through painful reverse engineering that is a pain in the butt to maintain and where each new versions contains as many improvements as it contains regressions ... yeah that's a solid way to sell our games and not have people angry at us ... How about no and how about we use it for an intelligent purpose such as assessing Linux and Mac OS gamers levels of interest for our catalogue and see which parts are having enough momentum to justify going the extra mile"

I know that the past of the industry makes it hard to believe but there's more and more Linux friendly devs in the industry that are trying their hardest to talk some reason into their bosses skull.
Heck even Falcom (the creators of the Ys series) admitted their surprise at seeing their games sitting on wine appdb and being talked about by Linux gamers ...
And we're talking "shit what do we do" type of surprise (in japanese there is a word for "panic inducing type of surprise" and that's the one they used talking about it on their Nico Nico livestreams , so at least they have seen that we're here we exist and we're potential customers but they legit don't know what to make of it ... and I sure hope they will eventually at least do one attempt )

And with what I hear from friends here and there , the understanding that proton is just a stop gap and shouldn't be seen as a definite answer is pretty understood.

Quoting: ageresThey should have made it a Goat Simulator Battle Royale instead of a generic Fortnite clone. Imagine 100 goats head-butting and licking each others like in Goat Simulator. I would play that.
Shhh don't give tempt them they would do it

Quoting: ageresWhat's the deal with that goat? Why is it in the game?
And more importantly why are you turned into one once you killed someone ...

Again that goat is very reminiscent of the goat simulator goat , and given how much this game became a negative meme referencing it in your very early build doesn't bode well .

All the AxisMappings work. For ActionMappings only Fire, Jump and Use work. And maybe Reload, can't remember.
Thanks I'll try to use that to see if I can bully the game into using a bépo layout.

Quoting: WorMzyBah, it hard codes qwerty controls, so it's basically impossible for me to play on a dvorak keyboard. :(

I'll see if there's a config file somewhere.

EDIT: There is a config file ~/.config/Epic/CrazyJustice/Saved/Config/LinuxNoEditor/Input.ini
But it is empty by default, and gets overwritten with an empty file when you start the game, sooooo.. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I was able to create a config that changed the basic controls (movement, fire, use), but haven't found the right names for the rest.
If only it could work with video options.
Care to share you input.ini guess work so far ? (I'm on discord so you can PM it to me , just so I see what's inside)
