Valve Has Announced The SteamOS Built On Linux UPDATED
23 Sep 2013 at 9:41 pm UTC

NoYzE, Valve are aware that gamepads and touch are limited, they are researching new types of controllers. I guess in two days we'll see what they are up to.

As for the rest, yes there will be a harmful separation between mainstream Linux and desktop Linux (there is already), yet it's much better for us if the 99% are on a linux based platforms than on Windows/Mac. The important thing though is that people start to realize the benefits of openness. It's a first step to global wisdom.

Shadowrun Returns Linux Port Just Started
5 Aug 2013 at 8:20 am UTC

They twitted on july 25: "Linux port will come in the next few months. Working on it now!"
Next week they tell us they just started to work on it that week...

Anyway, the game runs fine with Wine (except mouse scroll for me).

Quoting: JebrilValve is a cool company, without them Linux would still be leeching as much as it can off the Humble Bundle games this is a start, even if it's not one that you may like it pushes your platform forward.
Quoting myself :
"Oh I agree that it's a good thing to have Steam on Linux. At least it's better than not."

Quoting: JebrilAs for your reasoning for why Steam is bad, I don't agree with most of it, Steam is already available on the three major platforms, Steam has an offline mode but yes you still have to launch games through it. Unless you're desperate for resources or really paranoid from Valve screwing you over I don't see what the big deal is.
a- I want to play to game.
b- I don't want to use Steam.
c- I must use Steam to play to game.
d- Happiness fades away.
You understand ?

Ok, that's great to know that you're open to the idea. :) I'm looking forward to more news regarding this!

An Interview and Preview with IndieCity on Linux!
5 Jul 2013 at 3:32 pm UTC

Hi Hannah, I'm wondering if you could do so that the games using the extra features could actually be launched without the client (the extra features would be disabled in-game) ? This way I wouldn't be forced to use the client if the only thing I want to use IndieCity for is buying and installing the games.

I have been quite open on my views on it
It's hard to be objectively against freedom ^^. That's its strength, and why Linux may thrive someday.

Anyway, hopefully I've answered your question. ;)

This is why we ask developers if it's possible to get DRM Free downloads as well as Steam.
Well that's great, and all I'm asking for !

Personally though for me it isn't much of an issue, especially since I don't see Linux going anywhere especially when it's free and open source anyone can pick it up, the issue for me isn't the OS at all.
I don't understand.
What is 'the issue' for you then ?
What does Linux represent to you, why do you use it ?

It's only a problem if you don't understand that risk for me.
That's where you're wrong. It's also - and mainly - a problem if you don't *like* that 'risk' (which, for me is a not a risk, it's a known issue, because I know I don't want to use Steam). You don't see it as a problem yourself because you are ok to tie yourself to Steam. But objectively it *is* a problem.

Games you would like to play exclusive to Windows, do you see it as a problem ? This is exactly the same thing.
