The plan is to add heat resistant mitts, which go in the gloves slot and that you can forget about forever after once equipped.

This horde genre has been popular for a long time, in my group we usually call horde games Phobia like games, after the Phobia series. Most of the people here that know the series probably played Phobia 3 (https://www.mobygames.com/game/61176/phobia-iii-edge-of-humanity/) which was Linux native, but the first game of the series, Alien Phobia, was released in 1997 for Dos. https://www.mobygames.com/game/4138/alien-phobia/

Also had bad experiences with video games Kickstarters... but I'm still tempted to back this one at the early access level so I have a way to bug the devs to make sure there's a way to turn off animations and have super fast units movements on the map for quick play, like what you get in Advance Wars when you turn everything off. There's no point in these animations other than wasting time and artificially inflating expected play time for the game marketing (80h campaign! Of which, 78h is repetitive animations!!!). It's fun to watch the first time, but after that its always the same thing over and over and over and over and over...

I would say that a game targeted at the Steam Deck could do a few neat things other platforms can't (trackpads+gyro+etc), but it wouldn't mean that a game targeted at the Steam Deck wouldn't be playable on other platforms.

I finally pulled the trigger on Lost Ruin, which you reviewed a while ago, damn, its good, glad I bought it.

I'm also still addicted to Vintage Story. Just saying. :)
