Since when? Did they buy People Can Fly or buy the Bulletstorm IP from People Can Fly? I was under impression that the new version of Bulletstorm was published by Gearbox under license from People Can Fly.

From Wikipedia: "On June 24, 2015, People Can Fly announced that they would be split from their parent company Epic Games, a process that had begun with the release of Gears of War: Judgement. According to Sebastian Wojciechowski, the CEO of People Can Fly following the split, the studio had been working on others' IP since the acquisition by Epic and wanted to return to making their own IP. While the exact details of the split were not made public, Wojciechowski described it as a "real management buyout".[9] The company retained the Bulletstorm franchise and revealed an unannounced project based on Unreal Engine 4." Insurgency: Sandstorm releases soon, Linux support still confirmed with no ETA
5 Dec 2018 at 6:04 pm UTC

Quoting: BoldosDunno, but these messages from developers, like "Linux support still confirmed with no ETA", keep piling up a bit lately...
And I'm getting quite impatient and unsecure about such game releases...

Somehow, the future (with respect to these releases) suddenly feels somehow darker... as if developers kept postponing Linux releases indefinitely as a rule now...
I fully agree we are seeing more and more devs getting gun shy about linux even older previously linux friendly studios are moving away from it like 11 bit studios id be lying if i said it was not a concern because gaming is my main hobby its what i do to relax, am not against steam play i just dont want it to be the only option.

Epic is planning to sell other companies' games too, and they offer 'competitive' percentages as to what the respective 'cuts' will be. I'm not sure about 'Origin' (haven't used it in ages); but on their storefront, ubisoft doesn't sell 3rd party games.
Origin and u play both sell other companies games dude they have done for ages

THQ Nordic has acquired the Carmageddon IP, perhaps we will finally get it on Linux
3 Dec 2018 at 10:45 pm UTC

Quoting: GuestStainless is dead and buried, I was expecting the Carmageddon website to go offline soon, so any other company acquiring it is good news. I just hope they're aware that the fan base nowadays isn't as "passionate and dedicated" as it used to be. Stainless made a great job disappointing everyone.
But the thing is they bought the ip but they didnt say they are bringing out a game tomorrow they did the same with kingdoms of amalar from EA they bought the rights but its going to be a couple of years before we see anything

Quoting: ExidanI wound't say they support linux. They just seam to don't care if the devs port it or not, looking their steam page its majority is windows only games.
They literally did the Imperium Galactica II, Silver and Sphinx ports themselves.
True but didnt they use the one man porting team ryan c gordon for desperado true they have not said no we are not bringing x game to linux but they have not confirmed it too. I would love it if they do become a full blown linux publisher would love to see Red faction guerilla i already own it but would buy it again to support that port.
Desperado was not from Icculus, the same person announced the update on that who spoke about the three previously noted titles from THQ. They have their own team for this sort of thing.
That's great I stand corrected however while I appreciate the effort of porting very old games but maybe giving a timeline or a overview of how many titles they plan on porting given that THQ nordic now have a vast vast library they started with a handfull of ips from THQ and their own older titles but now with the aquistion of Deep silver they have Homefront/Metro/Saints Row/Darksiders/ Red Faction and they keep buying older ips they even bought timesplitters ip https://www.engadget.com/2018/09/13/thq-nordic-kingdoms-amalur-copernicus-38-studios/?guccounter=1 [External Link] and hell they have the rights to Frontlines fuel of war would love a sequel but doubt it will happen.

I'm pretty happy to wait and see how Intel's new GPU turns out first.
You're going to be waiting a while :P

Just go get a AMD card!
2020 is indeed far away in computer years...

However, and this almost certainly isn't the place for this, I don't see the point of an AMD card. I'm thinking of getting a new desktop and it appears on Linux even the fastest AMD card is slower than the Nvidia 1070 I've been running the past two years without issue. Except if you're very devoted to the idea of FOSS for drivers, and if you're not cost retrained, why go AMD? Again, taking the FOSS vs non-FOSS out of the equation... Honestly wondering.
Well, one thing to consider is the Wayland issue. Yeah, I know, Wayland is taking forever to dominate, but it is getting used more and more and adoption of this sort of thing tends to accelerate after a certain point, so if we're talking time horizons like 2020 . . .
My understanding of just what the problem is is fuzzy, but I hear Nvidia don't play well with Wayland.
I know wayland has progressed by still the best way to play games on linux with with xorg yes i know its old as dirt but it works. Wayland needs about another 3 to 5 years of development to reduce its impact and to intergrate better into steam etc. Just my opinion.

Quoting: Whitewolfe80MMM makes sense from intel point of view they are never going to take nvidia place from windows desktop gaming but on linux its much easier task especially if they hit the ground with as good or better performance in gaming.
Oh, it most certainly does. But the thing is...they claimed this once before.
True promises in interviews are easy time will tell
