Quoting: ScooptaWhile I'm looking forward to this I'm a bit worried it won't run for me. Rise of the tomb raider hangs for me on RADV 18.2.5. A lot of DXVK games also hang for me although not all of them. Hopefully by the time this comes out it won't be an issue anymore.
Are you running
Ubuntu or Arch ? cause im stuck at 18.2.2 on Ubuntu
Can you not manually update by just adding the ppa and ensuring your running the latest kernel its what i do

Quoting: GuestI don't care how good Proton is. Unless there is a native/official port of the game I'm not interested. I'm getting tired of all the people spamming internet with "runs fine in Proton, no port needed" - Proton is your unofficial and unpredictable choice, use it, have fun, enjoy playing your games, but stop actively discouraging developers from native support. This behaviour is exactly what changed my mind about Proton from "this is actually good" to "I hate it".
I admire that mindset but its not going to be the majority view loads its rough numbers but google the number of "linux" versions of skyrim there are since after two weeks proton sale counts as linux its a high number not millions but its a high number.

Good its the best game suggested that it could be and its great that we get the full trilogy. I do wish they didnt bother with the guessing game and just said Feral is proud to annouce "insert game title" is coming to linux "eta". Maybe i am wrong and people like it but its just get hopes up for games its never going to be.

Sorry to say this, but this game is just wasted resources, i mean, it's free software and that's great, but the gameplay is just like 80s games with even worse art, you can reply me with a "do it yourself" but i really don't know programming, i just know that any side-scrolling platforming game should be like New Super Mario Bros or even better if you want to give people some fun.

Look at this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AW90pNpI3A4 [External Link]

They should start a GODOT project and that would be much better, also Tux has no charisma, face it.

How i think a free-software platforming game should be?

1- Stop calling it SuperTux trying to emulate Mario, and don't copy his powerups, a penguin throwing fireballs is just ridiculous.
2- Let us play 4 players or more, and introduce different characters and skin support, so the community can transform them into Mario or whatever they like.
3- Put it on Steam and give us workshop support for stages (just like Mario Maker) and online coop.

Only that way the game would be something relevant.

Seriously, look at this fucker, it's ugly as hell: https://www.getdigital.co.uk/web/getdigital/gfx/products/__generated__resized/1100x1100/4626tasten_sticker_tux_farbe.jpg [External Link]

Super mario brothers came out in 1983 dude and is a very basic platformer it just happened to be in an era that it was new and fresh and i know that because i was five in 1986 and the nes was the first home console our family got I got given the spectrum 48k which you wont of heard of unless you are a fan of LGR or are from Europe.Plus New super mario brothers really isnt different from mario brothers yes its had graphics improvements thats to be expected it has power ups but so does supertux. Is it a waste of resources not as long as someone is enjoying it and it has active development so there must be some interest.

Quoting: orochi_kyoLOL, its funny to see people happy or fine with a dev lying straight to their faces.
"At least they didnt hide", you say. So lying is any better?
So they didnt know Linux has many distros before promising a linux version?
Its obvious they use the linux thing to get more crowdfunding money, when they have to deal with reality, they just leave the boat as the rats they are.
Devs should only support Ubuntu, yeah it sound elitist, but its better so devs stop bullshitting to their backers with the "too many distros" pretext. Also having two linux distros on your computer isnt rocket science.
I recommend linux backers to ask for a refund, take that money to a more serious developer.
I agree that devs should pick one distro and not worry about the rest however I think the real solution should be making the steam runtime a full container environment so nothing but the kernel from the underlying system is used. That would fix all of these issues as devs could target that container.
Dont they already do that though pretty much every linux dev says just target steam run time libaries then it run on everything linux, Back on topic here though am fairly certain it will run on proton no problem given its using stock engine with custom art assets. I was looking forward to it but broken port promise means ill never buy it.

Quoting: GBeeRight now, apart from the latest Tomb Raider, I guess I'd really like to try Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

I see a lot of people mentioning Metro: Exodus or Dying Light 2 - earlier games in these series were ported by their developers/publishers. Can I take it from the requests that they've already announced that they won't be porting their latest games?
In the case of Metro exodus there has been no mention of linux at all where as when last light was coming out they said coming to mac and linux.

Quoting: GuestNaive question but did those game sell well ?
Its a niche so not mainsteam numbers there in lies the problem yes you can make a smash hit game on an indie budget but the follow up is hard because of a number of reasons. First time around it was new and you may of had youtubers and twitch steamers playing your game alot raising its profile the sequel that is not guarenteed.

11 bit studios actually will put the latest This War of Mine DLC on Linux
