Quoting: Whitewolfe80Really because i found them boring as fuck on my own, its just a sub par shooter with loot boxes (free and paid loot boxes) what it does have is humour in the case of BL2 the weird aussie humour in the pre sequel is perhaps the one to give a miss.
Tmho, Borderlands 2(/presequel) is probably the best FPS game on Linux : open world FPS with cool graphics, a great and crazy story with strong characters. The games are really varied : a tons of weapons, options, landscapes (ice, desert, space...), cars, weak gravity (pre sequel), great DLC, coop. Hundreds of hours of gameplay for...less than 10€!
I think we def disagree on this the best story fps games available native on linux are Metro 2033 redux and last light. BL2 has great comedy true terrible combat system though a head shot is the end unless its borderlands in which case you need another thousand head shots. The border lands pre sequel story is not bad but the Australian humor does not translate to here in the UK certainly in my case.

Quoting: no_information_hereAll the Borderlands games are great. TPS is not quite as strong as the other two, but still well worth the price. I really wish there were other good co-op FPS Linux games like them. Big goofy fun.

I have played all three solo and with a co-op partner. Great both ways.

Quoting: LeopardI have a question.

I never played anything related to Borderlands. Should i pick Borderlands 2?
Do you have a group of friends to play said game with because if you do its a great 8/10 experience if you are going solo its a 5/10 experience its okay solo, its great in co op.

SteamOS is still alive with a new Beta, although it's a rather uninteresting one

Mmm I for one have zero interest in VR I hope the people that want it get it, but its just not for me having used gear vr and oculus at tech demos the tech demos almost made me hurl twice so its not for me. As for Steam OS i think they should give it up it would be better if they had just stuck with their opening statement they threw support behind Ubuntu, then started work on Steam OS.

Personally I do not know anyone that runs steams OS as a daily driver nearly all the linux gamers i know stick to ubuntu lts based distros with a smattering of arch here and there. If there is a silent market out there running Steam os i would love to know why they run it.

Io Interactive are working on another Hitman game

Quoting: Keyrock/crosses fingers for continued partnership with Feral
They are an indie studio essentially now they have support of the Linux community for insisting with 2k that a linux port be allowed. Which means as long as the quality is there I would have no problem buying their newest hitman day and date for linux.

Quoting: cRaZy-bisCuiTI'm not really a big fan of Total War - so I did not count them in. The paradox titles are more round based strategy, aren't they? Also yes, Warhammer ... the issues I got with it is there's no Linux <-> Windows cross-platform support. Therefor it's kind of dead for me unfortunately. :'(
Not being a fan of Total war does not mean they are not triple A RTS games it just means you don't like them. Sudden Strike 4 very good rts, Company of Heroes 2 now it has had all its patches is a good Triple A RTS and oh and course Total Annihilation which is a triple A rts.

Quoting: DamonLinuxPLWitcher 2 on GOG for 1.65$ (on Steam 2,99$)
And despite the bashing it has been fixed for a while and runs perfectly fine on my setup, which is not exactly a gaming beast.

Amazon Lumberyard game engine is no longer going to support Linux, not enough demand

Quoting: lijuThis is purely hypothethical, unreal comment.. but just imagine RockStar decides to release Red Dead Redemption 2 on consoles and PC Linux only. How would the world react? Would there be unity among the PC windows players to switch over to Linux or rather cry, that rockstar newest engine iteration focuses on Linux instead of windows?
I think in the situation you describe they would dual boot but at least they would try linux.
It's simply too optimistic to think your average gamer would go through the hassle of installing a new operating system just to play a single game, Rockstar or not. Not that any sane publisher would support Linux and not Windows even as a weird publicity stunt. And we all know that Rockstar is all about mass market appeal, just like Ubisoft and EA.
Really because I know people that bought wii U to play mario kart and they don't own any other games, No i know that hence the hypothetical argument it would never happen. If you do not know what hypothetical means it means in theory like for example in theory you could pull Angelina Jolie it would never happen but it is a hypothetical scenario.

Quoting: mishugashuHow disappointing. Why do they expect the chicken to come before the egg? If everyone supported Linux, Linux would be a much larger target audience. I can't even imagine how many potential Linux gamers are playing on Windows because of the lack of support.
But there in lies the rub, we need a big time publisher with a big time triple a game to do a day one release on linux so there is no advantage to being on windows. I know there are big ish publishers supporting linux with some of their titles but landing something like COD/BF/Witcher 3 or no way linux companies like Bethesda or Rockstar launching games on linux, would love to see Red Dead 2 but i doubt its even coming to pc at this point.
