Quoting: aFoxNamedMorrisThat is cool and really surprising given who owns them, hopefully it could lead to paid work for the coders hell could see them working for 343 in future.Quoting: Whitewolfe80343 Is actually okay with the project. They keep in touch, and they even want to play the game.Quoting: aFoxNamedMorrisWell thats great however it could still be smited from on high it is very very close visually to Halo looks like it will be fun but some of visuals may have to be tweaked.Quoting: Whitewolfe80Biggest problem will be do they intend to charge anything for it because if they dont they should be fine legally if they charge down the line for anything MS will shaft them with a very large legal stick. They've stated over and over that they will never charge for it, and will accept no monetary donations.

Quoting: TheRiddickYeah I know, Bethesda has a bit of a cold war going on with Linux, they don't acknowledge it and seem to avoid hiring anyone with Linux experience (last time I heard nobody in their office has linux installed anywhere...)Yeah unless something drastic happens like a big spike in Linux market share or a complete change at boardroom level. The odd thing is it wa the guy that ported to Linux back in the day that is putting the boot in the most saying no we tried there is just no market there. I will give them that it was true back in early 00's when they first tried but things have changed.

Quoting: TheRiddickWell its more a question of WHAT GAMES CAN THEY PORT.ID are owned by Bethesda so they wont happen any time soon.
BUT given that Bethesda has Vulkan render setup with the Switch version of Skyrim (SE) then I would say make SkyrimSE and Fallout4 available. Next would be Witcher3 or/and GTA5, but allot of these bigger companies are like to be HOSTILE to the idea of Linux (have in the past), no idea why, they just are.
Unlikely List: (Dev hates Linux)
Skyrim SE
Fallout 4
Witcher 3
GTA5
Mass Effect Andromeda
Likely List: (Dev may be open to Linux)
Empyrion - Galactic Survival
DOOM (ID, easy port)
RAGE (ID, easy port)
Med Of War Assault Squad 2
Carmageddon Max Damage (sure why not)
Galactic Civ III
Legend of Grimrock 2 (first one was)
RISEN 3 Titan Lords
That is some on my list there are some upcoming games also but will wait until release, I would even be open to paying a additional fee on top (not full price again please) to get the Linux version of these games!

"A lot of people on my team worked on Space Marine, had a great time making it, and want to do it."
While he was quick to say a "Space Marine 2" isn't in the works at present, Disbrow mentioned "there's definitely a hunger for it," and should it ever happen, you'd know "it came honestly from the team."
Since the Sega acquisition, Relic "has been doubling down on our strength as a studio, which is in the PC strategy market. That's what we are shaped around and focused on," Disbrow added. "Does that mean we wouldn't circle around and do a Space Marine sequel or something like that in the future? Absolutely not. But right now we're focusing on strategy games."
Quoting: Whitewolfe80I found this from Destructoid from Jan of this year which is interesting Sega apparently do own the rights i stand correctedQuoting: GuestSpace Marine.
I also wouldn't mind Mechwarrior Online, but that's such a moving target already (or at least used to be) that it's not something I'd ever see happen.Quoting: GuestSpace Marine. They did seem to manage it for the Dawn of War II series, and Total Warhammer is Sega as well.
Would love to see Space Marine sadly think its more to do with licence libo more than anything, as Sega picked up the publishing rights but only for Space Marine. However Warhammer 40k franchise is a licenced property so not only would feral need Sega approval they would also need Warhammer approval to use the Warhammer licence. Plus the studio that made the game is now defunct.

Quoting: jensAlso on the family friendly note it once again goes back to the stereotype of a linux user hardcore geek. So no typically the hardcore geek does not have children or partners in the eyes of corporate business men. So why would they waste money authorising a port when they know people will buy anything that involves guns and blowing random shite up.Quoting: JanRead between the lines of Feral's statement: They are very selective about which titles they will bring to Linux. I guess it will be mainly "PC-like" RTS -- Dawn of War III or XCOM --, and less third-person action/adventure titles.Exactly. One should also note that there is only a limited monetary volume in the Linux market. Lets say that the average linux gamer is willing to spend 150 Euros/Dollars per year on games. Multiply that with the number of gamers and you know what the volume is that can be earned by publishers and porting studio's. Nowadays there is still the sentiment "I'll will buy this game because I want to support Linux", but this behavior with vanish once there are more titles. I would even dare to say that more titles per month at the moment would hurt gaming on Linux because the revenue per title or per studio will be less. Its a long road where both the number of linux titles and the available money in our (very specific) market needs to grow slowly side by side.
None of Feral's family friendly Mac games like the LEGO or Sonic games come to Linux.
