Quoting: trawzI hope they'll include some kind of VR support down the line, that would probably make for the scariest game ever!
What is wrong with you!!!

Quoting: scaineYeah I... know? Like I said, I wish you could set it up in silent mode, and automatically start the replay buffer. Right now, you have start OBS, then press "start replay buffer". I'm just being lazy!
Do you know about obs-websocket [External Link]? This may scratch your itch. Afair that's used by e.g. http://touch-portal.com/ [External Link]
Haha! I'm waaaaay too lazy to build my own launcher that hooks into OBS via websocket! Interesting though, I had no idea OBS was so easy to integrate with other platforms. Well, I say easy... well beyond my skillset.

Quoting: scaineI do love OBS. I kind of wish it had a "silent" mode where it just runs in the background, automatically setting up the replay buffer and capturing the screen. Then I could just hotkey "moments" throughout the day, whether that's a game moment, or a Zoom call.

I'd still need a way to share them, but it's not the end of the world to do a quick manual youtube upload.
There is a replay buffer on OBS you can even keybind it for that exact use, it is like Shadowplay or Relive just with OBS on linux/multiplatform.

Yeah, as wvstolzing notes, you can still do the virtual camera on Linux, you just need to install v4l2loopback and the obs-v4l2sink. It's a bit fiddly to get working, true, but it's a tick box thereafter, which is really nice.

Dell announce new XPS 13 laptop models, will support moving from Windows to Ubuntu

Just a note to the above comment, HP have recently announced that their Z-series laptops, workstations, etc, will support Ubuntu and there will be options on selected models to pre-load 20.04. Feels like the whole industry has a little bit of momentum around this. Hopefully it continues to build.

I thought ACO needed a specific kernel to work? Or was that fsync?

I love my 4 year old Sputnik XPS13. It cost a fortune - I went for the then-top-of-the-range model (hiDPI touchscreen, 500Gb SSD, 8Gb RAM), but it's starting to show its age a little now. Still runs well, though I had to open it shortly after buying it to replace the dodgy Atheros WIFI card with an Intel 7260 and just last month, I had to pay £20 for a new AX200 replacement because the WIFI kept cutting out. The case comes off with 11 screws and the WIFI card just slots in nicely. No more WIFI drops.

I'd love a new lappy, but it's quite low on my list after all the money I've spent on my main PC this year. Plus, do I really want another Intel laptop when you just covered the AMD-powered Tuxedo gaming laptops (albeit with Nvidia GPUs) a few weeks back? Or the earlier Tuxedo slimbook? Or the KDE Slimbook??

Decisions, decisions.

I love this. Simple, effective. I guess it's a shame that Discord didn't care about their multi-platform strategy enough that it was needed in the first place, but what a cool project.

Quoting: g000hI think it is sad that people feel they need to save-scum in order to play games. I tend to play all my games as rogue-like permadeath, and if I die I'm happy to start again. Generally if this happens, I haven't played conservatively enough and I'm adjusting my play-style on the next play-through.

This price rise - I notice the game is currently on sale (at 30% discount) - Is the rise referring to the current discount (25th Sept 2020) finishing, or is it referring to additional increase to the regular pricing?
Eh, no - this isn't about save-scumming, it's a lack of being able to leave the game during a several-hours-long dungeon. There are no useful savepoints. It's poor design.

As for playing permadeath - good for you. And if the game is advertised as such, I'd support that. But it's not. You will die playing this, inevitably. And the lack of save points means that when you die (and in this game, you will), you need to walk for 30 minutes from the respawn village back to the dungeon where you died... where you will likely die again. Rinse, repeat.

Lazy, poor design.
