Test Tube Titans has you create and mutate massive creatures to destroy everything

So torn! I love the idea, but the execution looks so awkward it's genuinely giving me anxiety to watch. When you know what you want to do in a game, but the motion mechanics makes that difficult by design, I'm not sure I can get behind it. You already referenced it, but it's OctoDad all over again. Or I Am Bread.

I get that some folk find this stuff engaging and fun... but I don't think I'm one of them.

Direct3D to Vulkan translation layer 'DXVK' version 1.5.5 is out with lots of bug fixes

Well, mrdeathjr had a Blazblue screenshot in that comment, so it looks like something has changed that allows it to run!

As for not being confident enough - as Liam notes, just download Lutris! Install Blazblue using the SteamWine option and in the runner options, you should have dxvk 1.5.5 as the "latest" option by default. I've never downloaded dxvk in my life - I either use Lutris, Proton, or ProtonGE (Glorious Eggroll). So much easier.

I think you might still need to enable d9vk though? So in the Steam launch parameters, you add PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%

I can't remember if that's still needed though. Glorious Eggroll's version of Proton enabled it by default some months ago, so it's a bit confusing to be honest.

Quoting: massatt212is there a project for Windows Media Foundation so we can get more of our games running ?
Yep, you can download it here: https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install [External Link], then install it with (on Ubuntu):
WINEPREFIX="~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/XXXXXX/pfx" ./install-mf.sh

...where XXXXXX is the app-id of the game you want to install. You can see the app-id of the game by using your browser to find the game on steampowered.com - the app-id is the 6 digit number in the URL. So, for Omensight [External Link], its app-id is 455820.

Steam Play Proton is correctly tracking Linux sales, a statement from Valve

Same here; even bought some "AAA" titles that I don't really care about all that much, but where I wanted to show that there's a paying Linux audience.
It hadn't even crossed my mind that a user with only Linux selected in their preferences, using exclusively the client for Linux and purchasing using a browser identified as running on, yet again, Linux, might actually count as Windows.
I've only done that once, for Dirt Rally, and luckily it was via Feral's store, so I think I'm okay on that front! Infuriating though.

Almost exclusively browser-purchases here too, and since my backlog is insane, it can take me months to play my purchases. So depressing.

Just editing to add - there are MANY times I've bought a (admittedly low value) game just to show the dev a Linux sale and with no intention, or even desire, to play it. That they all counted as Windows sales because Steam can't be bothered to check a user agent is really, really painful.

Valve have a simple solution to this too - just let us note our "platform of choice" in preferences. Not the filtering option for store purchases, just an option to say "I play on this platform".

But it seems they can't risk pissing off the Windows status quo...

I can vouch for Deep Sky Derelicts. I only did one playthrough, but it was 13 hours of mainly pure joy. Great tactical battles and some nice synergies to take advantage of. For a fiver? Highly recommended! The first hour is pretty slow though, so give it a chance to shine.

What have you been playing recently and what do you think about it?

Well, thanks to g000h, I discovered that the Fate Hunters devs have moved on from the publisher they used for that game and they... recreated Fate Hunters under a new title called Dreamgate. So I bought that on Saturday and played a few hours. Great game, but still a bit rough around the edges in terms of balance. It's basically a Fate Hunters reskin at the moment, but they have plans to extend it significantly.

Played a bit of 7 Days to Die on stream with Sin and Ehvis. That was fun. And thanks to Sin, I'm also now playing Terraria again! So much depth to that game, it's actually kind of overwhelming.

Finally, I finished Starcom Nexus. At least, it's as finished as I care to play. Great game, fun space battles, but the lack of a useful map makes the final 5 hours or so a bit of a grind and frankly, I gave up caring to play on, although I still had some un-finished missions. Recommended, but it's shame about that final quarter.

Quoting: scaineJust a little point, but when you say

make sure you have Proton 5.0 installed in the Tools section of Steam
...well, I don't think that exists any more. You can still filter by "tools", but there's no section as such, so there's no way to install tools directly.

[Edit: So, after experimenting and googling, it turns out that you just can't "browse" tools anymore, but you can still type "proton" into your search bar, you'll still see results appearing, even if you haven't actually ticked "tools" in your filter. So tools still exist, you just have to know their name to install them - try searching "sdk" or "server" for more examples]
1. Check Tools filter
2. uncheck show only installed games filter
3. browse tools in the uncategorized section
Good shout. Very muddy for me because I have hundreds of uncategorised games, so I didn't notice that the servers/sdks were mixed in there. I also use "recent" view by default and had to collapse many, many months/years to get to the bottom of the list!
