The impressive first-person metroidvania puzzler "Supraland" now has Linux support

I'm about five or six hours in and already losing a bit of motivation to play. There are no real markers on what to do next, so I end up generally just walking around the same areas a whole lot wondering what I'm missing. On the plus side, when you do find something you either previously overlooked, or didn't have the ability to change, it's quite rewarding. On the down side, I can't really be bothered with that trial and error repetition, so either I'm ditching this shortly, or I'm resorting to youtube playthroughs to shortcut the tedium.

I'm playing at 1080p on a GTX1080 and the performance is flawless, on max, no crashes suffered so far. I might have to turn off lens flare though, since it's constantly flaring in your face when you pick up a supraball with your upgraded gun. Pretty distracting.

Lovely game though, beautiful visuals and a really fun premise. It just needs some kind of quest/hint system to keep the player interested. I'll keep my eye on Supraland 2 for sure.

The next Humble Monthly is out, with two more interesting early unlock games

Quoting: morbiusHellblade: Senua's Sacrifice works great in Proton, and that's the reason I got this bundle, but unfortunately, the game is a disappointment for me. Both combat and puzzling failed to impress me so far. There is a lot of style to the game, but in this case style didn't triumph over substance. I understand why this game had to be confusing and annoying, it's a game about mental illness after all, but it does nothing to help me want to play it. I'll endure a bit more, maybe it gets better as I go, but I doubt it.
I loved Hellblade and completed it over a weekend in two sittings. Loved the combat and thought the puzzle elements were incredibly well done - only one frustrating experience and a "doh!" moment when I solved it. Beautiful game, great experience.

Quoting: morbiusWarhammer 40,000: Mechanicus is a pleasent surprise, didn't even know it has Linux client. Looks like my kind of thing, I spent more time on TBS than any other games. On the down side, I know nothing about Warhammer 40,000 universe.
I very recently commented that I was about to buy this game! I held off and I'm delighted I did, since this is a real gem for a Humble Monthly. Looking forward to playing it

Quoting: morbiusThe rest I'll probably just trade away. Road Redemption does look sweet, but I doubt it would hold my attention for more than 15 minutes. I'll skip the next month, not for me.
Haha! Me too. I already have Surviving Mars and I have no interest in supporting the Kingdom Come devs with even a paltry Humble Monthly download - these guys kickstarted their game with the promise of Linux support, then unceremoniously decided to shaft us... I mean, the duplicity of it was staggering. Here's their response [External Link] after THREE YEARS of non-delivery, despite the initial promise:

We have no specific information for Linux/Mac unfortunately, even the analysis of the engine would take several months to have complete.
So, they promised Linux support fraudulently to gain interest and groundswell, then admitted three years later that they hadn't even done an analysis on their engine for Linux support. Total scum, imo. They found time to add consoles though. Funny that, eh?

Just as an aside, I found it funny how convoluted Humble make it to pause your subscription to the Humble Monthly. I wasn't exactly counting, but I think they ask "are you sure??" about 3 or 4 times in inventively different ways! You'll lose your 10% discount... are you sure? You'll not have access to the July games... are you sure? Here's a $2 discount this month... are you sure? :)

Valve may be working on a new version of the Steam Controller

If it has a right-thumbstick, I'm in. If it doesn't... meh. I'm probably keep using my wired Xbox360 controller that I've had for about 7 or 8 years now! I think I've used my SC about 2 hours total. If it's an FPS, I'm using mouse/keyboard and if it's a gamepad game, it almost always uses a right-thumbstick (the type of games I buy, that is).

Finished the demo today and since it's a fiver off right now, I went ahead and bought it. Now I just have to find time to actually play it, since Sin's addiction to 7 Days to Die has me adding nearly literally hundreds of hours to that game instead!

Supraland demo wasn't perfect - it's one of those game, I suspect where you can't "miss" a section and continue playing. The demo requires you to unlock all five hidden golden barrels to actually progress and it's honestly not amazingly straight forward in such a complex 3D environment. But it's beautiful to look at, slick movement and nice interaction. Looking forward to playing the full game.

I don't want to dredge gamergate up again, but I'm not supporting a CEO who was part of that movement
What's that?
If you sincerely don't know, consider yourself lucky! Bit of a depressing story to be honest.

I don't want to dredge gamergate up again, but I'm not supporting a CEO who was part of that movement, regardless of how pretty his game looks. I think he's only changed his tune recently because Microsoft have stepped in as joint-publisher and told him to apologise publicly before money is lost. But then having MS on board is another red flag for me generally, so I'm going to give this one a miss, I think. Plenty other incredible games out there. Like, Encodya, in fact!

Beautiful artwork. I'm not usually a fan of point-n-click adventures, but I might have to give this a go.

I wasn't aware of the unit limit - thanks for that. A Morphling is only 2 coins, so there should have been 35 available. I had 8 Morphlings on my bench (2x2-star and 2x1-star), leaving 27 available. But who knows, maybe 3 other players had already 3-starred their Morphlings? I didn't pay that much attention to the opposing teams.

Good to know though! Thanks!

I was doing alright in both matches where you took those screenshots, but ended up bombing out in fifth and fourth places. And that's because, as you say in the article, the shop RNG will either make or break your game.

I was sitting on two 2-star and two 1-star Morphlings for about 60% of one of the matches... just... one... more... Morphling... nope. If it had appeared, I expect I'd have made podium, but since it didn't, out I go.

Pretty frustrating.

On the other hand, it's engaging enough that I've sank nearly 40 hours into it. And it's free. So it's definitely incredible value!

Valve looking to drop support for Ubuntu 19.10 and up due to Canonical's 32bit decision (updated)

Quoting: Satoru
Quoting: vectorI say this tongue-in-cheek so don't flame me, but perhaps Ubuntu would like to deprecate support for OpenGL as well; after all, Apple is deprecating OpenGL support :P
Canonical's plan

1) "You have 4 months sorry!"

If Canonical is going to copy all of Apple's bad decisions, then they should also copy the part where Apple spent YEARS clearly communicating to both devs and users, with popups and warning. As opposed to dropping a bomb on people with 4 months notice, and then when users upgrade to 19.10 in 4 months suddenly 50% of the Linux games will stop working and Proton/Wine also dies with it.
For the third(?) time: Canonical have been talking about this for about 2 years. Can't say that I'm amazingly pleased about how it's been communicated, but at least lets get the facts straight, eh?
