One Deck Dungeon celebrates a first anniversary with a sale, it's quite addictive

This is a lot of fun, but I don't think it has the depth of something like Slay the Spire. On the other hand, a run can be completed in 15-20 minutes if you turn off all the animations and you know what you're doing!

I'm also a bit sceptical about how the game can be won with certain characters. I played the Mage quite a lot initially only to discover that her abilities really aren't fantastic. Switched to the Rogue and after only a few games, I'd beaten the first boss. So you probably need to experiment with the characters to find one that suits.

Great game at this price though. Well recommended.

Kerbal Space Program is getting a big expansion named Breaking Ground, releasing this week
27 May 2019 at 5:34 pm UTC

Quoting: sergeit's free for those who purchased kerbal before april 2013 :)

Kerbal Space Program: Breaking Ground Expansion will be released on May 30th for PC for $14.99 USD. And yes, we’re keeping our promise that all players who purchased the game through April 2013 will receive the expansion for free. We’ll provide more details on how that will work before launch.
I guess the article could be a little bit clearer - the Breaking Ground DLC is $14.99 USD, free for early adopters, but there's also a free update to the base game which adds in some extra features:

With the release of Breaking Ground, the base game is also getting some updates that will add a few new features.

For starters, the inventory mechanic that is used by deployed science will be available in the base code, for modders to use and extend as they wish.

Additionally, we're adding two extensions to our action group system. The first one adds another type of action group for controls that let you bind input controls to fields - an axis group. The second adds Action Sets, which allow you to enable or disable sets of axis or action groups.

This extends what you can do with a limited number of keys, letting you put your craft into different modes of operation. You can even override the base controls with the action set feature, further fine tuning the interface between you and your craft. We developed these extensions to give players more options to control their robotics, but it certainly will be useful for stock and modded players as well.

Finally, we’ve added EVA portraits, so that you can check data on your Kerbals even when they’re out and about.
Hope that helps clear it up.

The latest '7 Days to Die' experimental build allows more graphics tweaking, running nicely

Quoting: stud68Vulkan still not working yet, for myself at least.
I get a pink and black world.
Yep, their Vulkan build is still borked on Linux. No idea what the issue is, but it's pink and black for me too, although weirdly, the toolbar and compass/map display over it perfectly. Presumably some kind of shader-related weirdness.

I can also confirm that this ss setting punts my performance back into the 65-100fps bracket on my 1080. Before, it was typically in the 45-75 region. And apart from an ever-so-slightly brighter world, I couldn't see what turning off ss actually did!

Loving A17.4 right now - such a lot of fun once you get to grips with how many houses are now absolute death traps! :)

Quoting: scaineJust a quick note to say that I haven't been able to play this for about a year due to an issue with a "lime" package that's affecting a few Linux users. I tweeted Terry this week and he thinks he knows what the issue is and we'll hopefully get an update on this shortly. Fingers crossed - I've put a few hours into this and it's excellent. Well worth grabbing, asap.
He's hoping to have the fix in 0.17.2
Yep, he said as much in my twitter thread with him [External Link]. Seems like a lovely dude. And seriously, this game is huge fun. I'm looking forward to playing again.

Unique gravity-defying metroidvania 'Dandara' finally sees an update to the Linux version
24 May 2019 at 4:39 pm UTC

Phew. Yeah, just checked - it was April's Monthly Bundle. I ended up focusing solely on Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden and haven't played any of the others in that bundle yet. Then May's came along with the incredible Wandersong and... I haven't played any of the others in that bundle either!

Strange to think that I've spent so many hours on games I wouldn't have bothered even considering without Steam Play. I didn't think Valve's initiative would really affect me that much, but between those games, Deep Rock Galactic, Path of Exile and Lutris' Overwatch, the bulk of my gaming this year has been on Platinum-rated Windows titles.

And 7 Days to Die, of course. Still my most played game... by far. Although Slay the Spire is catching up!

Steam Play updated again to 4.2-5 to include newer DXVK, networking and controller fixes
24 May 2019 at 10:20 am UTC

I wonder if fixing the networking issues is the foundation for an attempt at building in EAC support to a future Proton? I also wonder if there were further FAudio fixes in there from Ethan Lee - he hasn't tweeted anything on the subject recently, but I'll keep an eye out.

The only thing missing in Deep Rock Galactic now is voice support. Not that anyone actually uses it anyway, but it would be nice to have a perfect experience...

I'm a bit confused - I went to buy this, but it's already in my library?! I honestly don't remember being that drunk recently...

art of rally is bringing a stylized racing experience to Linux later this year

The only Rally game I ever really enjoyed is this one:

Everything after that just became too real, too twitchy, less fun. Or I did. One of the two.

Love the look of this, even though I was never a Myst fan. I played a fair bit of Quern, which some of this reminds me of, but this looks like it'll have a far stronger story and the voice acting sounds top notch! Who are the voice actors, do you know? The main character reminds me of someone. Originally thought it was a melancholy Cave Johnson from Portal 2 (the awesome JK Simmons), but later lines gave me a different vibe, but still familiar.

Damn. Now I want to replay Portal 2...
