Big Brand Too Lazy To Support Linux So Sole Dev Creates Incredible Open Source Project Instead is pretty much the most metal headline ever. You missed a trick there Liam!

But why is it always Corsair?? I stopped buying their stuff (along with Elgato) because they made it so clear a long time ago just exactly how lazy they actually are.

Valve reveal new Steam store menu and enhanced search now in Beta

Minor rant, but "auto-detecting disappearing top-bar" is one of my most-hated features in any app, or any web page. Especially on touch, the detection is usually crap, and it'll pop up even while I'm scrolling down. And, since it vanishes mostly on scroll-down, I forget it's there, and when I need it, I have to move the page to make it re-appear.

It's a shit design choice, and the only reason it exists is from the early days of mobile. Now, Valve are reviving it for the Deck. <sigh>

This is a good bundle for me - I went for the three-game option. Some brilliant gems in this list!

Valve gets pressured by payment processors with a new rule for game devs and various adult games removed
23 Jul 2025 at 12:10 pm UTC

The organisation behind this isn't really the payment processors, it's an Australian feminist anti-porn movement called Collective Shout. They've been around for a while and have the backing of various world wide (often religious and pro-life because of course they fucking are) anti-porn groups.

They're pretty disingenuous with how they portray the games they attack on Steam however. And to all the comments saying that this is a slippery slope and wait until GTA6 comes out? Well, yep, they went after GTA5 back in 2014, so you can bet your bottom dollar that GTA6 will be in their cross-hairs.

That campaign actually did result in Target Australia removing the game from shelves.

Space Dingus is a spiritual sequel to Death Road to Canada

Weird trailer, with all those repeated sections...

Looks like a nice refinement on Death Road Canada though. That game felt a bit overwhelming at times, so hopefully this scales the difficulty/swarms a little nicer.

Xenopurge has a great concept and a good start for a tense tactical auto-battler

@Purple: I remember reading about Radio Commander when it launched and I thought it sounded a bit suss. It came out in 2019 and we didn't have great voice recognition back then. Sure enough, Phasmaphobia launched the following year, and the voice recognition was still jank. I'm not sure about Radio Commander, but Phasmaphobia used Microsoft Cortana online voice recognition, which meant it didn't work on Linux. But that's okay because it barely worked on Windows anyway. I watched quite a few streams where the voice stuff just didn't trigger at all.

Not sure if Radio Commander is any better now, but Phasmaphobia did get better, probably because it relies on the online service which would have continuously gotten better over the 5 years since release. Or at least, I'd hope so. You never can tell with Microsoft shit.

Next-generation brick building sandbox Brickadia is out with Linux / Steam Deck support

The graphics look incredible (apart from the characters/avatars, as pb notes above). Physics engine looks lovely too. There's a hint of Teardown in there, some Fall Guys, and yeah, obviously a Lego/Roblox vibe too.

Very impressive.

If you love Brotato you should check out Noobs Are Coming

Doesn't the hit-detection just look really hard to track in this? Brotato had a little of that challenge too, but more because there was so much going on. In this, I can't even tell when the character is taking damage!!

The Alters gets patched to replace AI generated bits, fix a Steam Deck crash and more

In ten years, we've gone from celebrating a Windows game working on Linux to astonishment that a serious game studio could release a game in 2025 that doesn't work on Linux. Love it.

Then there's this review - someone who actually did get it to work on Linux, submitted a bug report and it was instantly closed with "Linux is not supported". They bravely kept comments open on that review too, and it's interesting to see that some actual snowflake on the internet has created multiple bots that post a copypasta response, slagging Linux. Pretty pathetic. I guess that's the internet today.

Anyway - crappy Linux support, crappy support in general, non-apology for inappropriate and un-needed use of AI, failed to notify Steam that AI was used (and still hasn't updated their page to note its use, naughty), and pledged to use AI in future. I'm out. G'bye 11bit. There were some fun times before you got big enough to treat customers like a number.

Here's their Publisher page if you want to block them, like I just did:
