Well, I seem to be a minority here. I thought his twitter "whine" was quite humorous, particularly in the context of his blog-based rants. He certainly couldn't have meant it in a whiney way. Not after you read the blog.
And those blog posts are excellent. The only point I'd make, that Cas won't like to hear, is that I would have struggled to ever pay $20 for Revenge of the Titans and I would have struggled to pay even $3 for any of the rest. So his point about 90% coupons might right, but it's right for a reason - their games aren't worth full price.
Well, actually, RotT is excellent. It's deep, innovative, difficult, beautiful, smooth, varied and funny. At least, when it released (2010) it was beautiful and innovative - it's looking a bit jaded now, right enough and TD is dime a dozen.
But the rest? A Paradroid clone, a Robotron clone and a Space Invaders clone, all done in the RotT art style. You might throw them a dollar on Google Play, but the only reason I own them is because of Humble Bundle.
So, the truth cuts both ways, I think. Cas and Chaz are still trying to punt their games at $10! Ten dollars for a Space Invaders clone? It's just ridiculous.

Quoting: KristianThe distinction between Indie bundles and other bundles as regards DRM-free and cross platform policies is an artificial distinction invented after the fact as a rationalization.Yep, agreed. But they do still do decent work for charity. They're just not relevant any more as a Linux advocate. When you reduce their entire hook to "charity" instead of "charity, Linux, DRM-free", then I'd rather give my games money to GoG and keep my monthly charity payments as they are - relevant to me, and not chosen by a reseller in another country.

Am on mobile and can't be bothered checking, but isn't this a weekly Bundle? Why is everyone banging on about cross platform?
Only the Humble Indie bundles made a big deal of cross platform.
Still think it's a shame they devalued that brand by branching into all these 'conflicting values' models, but they are a business and they do raise money for charity.

I absolutely loved the first game - played it the week before and week during Halloween - 2011 or 2012, I think. Got it free on Playstation+ but I've pre-ordered the sequel based on that experience.
It's childish, simple, but great fun. Don't get all super-hyped, or worked up over it, basically.

That would make me a very happy gamer. I´ve already sunk a fair bit of time into both titles at the start of 2013 when I still had a Windows partition. They´re pretty superb shooters.

Quoting: muntdefemsDoh! Prison Break was that dodgy TV series, wasn't it? Yeah, of course I meant Prison Architect. It looks like it could be really fun, but the lack of a useful tutorial, obscure objectives and weird bugs rendered my few hours with the game a frustrating experience.Quoting: scainePrison Break is what convinced me of this approach. I bought into the hype train, stuck down my £18 and was completely disappointed. I think it was around Alpha13 and while it's up to something like 18 or 19 now, that experience was so devoid of fun that I haven't played it since!Surely you mean Prison Architect, don't you? :P

Strangely enough, while I see value in Kickstarter, I utterly despise early access. And I won't ever sign up for alpha or beta access on Kickstarter either. Despite wanting to be part of the seed that grows into a game, I still (perhaps selfishly) want to experience the finished article and not ruin the surprise by playing low quality rubbish along the way.

Quoting: PlintslchoFor me personally, the Kickstarter hype has died down though. I have backed some projects up but in the end, haven't had the feeling it was really worth it. I rather follow the development now and pick the game up when it is finished.I'm much pickier about my pledges now too, but only because of the Fun Pimps debacle. So stretch goals are out for me, and I prefer to see some evidence that the project is taking cross-platform really seriously.
